Pimp my Bed

Ok, I'm not talking about putting silk sheets or a fancy head board in my bed room, or putting big as LCD screens in the truck bed. I just want to know what you guys do with your truck bed, because mine is all scratched up, with such nice paint on the outside. I don't know how bed covers work with tonneau covers, and I was never sure about that spray on bed liner, maby some carpet... I just want to see what other people have done so I can...borrow some ideas, lol. Pics if possible.

I have a bed rug, with a soft hinged tonneau cover on my S10. I'll see if I can get some pics. I'm not a fan of the fiberglass covers, wiegh too much.

Bed rug is a good way to go. Or just get a soft or hard bed cover then you never see the scratched up paint.

Do you remember where you purchased your bed rug, or any other suggestions of a good brand. The inside of my bed is all scrached up and drill holes from where the battery used to sit( the battery relocation was a crapy job from the previous owner that i re-did). My plan now is to sand it down, primer it, then Wal-Mart spray it black and put a bed rug on it! I'll post pics in the next 2 weeks when ever I payed!

Re: Pimp my Bed

Good god dont spray paint it with wal-mart spray paint. Take it it a shop and have it done atleast. The money will be well spent for the peace of mind knowing it will be done the right way. My bed rug was custom made by a local shop which closed its doors about a year ago due to lack of business, dunno if "Bedrug" brand still makes em for the first gen, but i'm pretty sure they used to. They still sell em for the 94+ S10 but I dont know how close that would be to the 1st gen S-Series Bed. I'll find some links and info....

I like the look of a good quality spray in bed liner, not a big fan of bed carpeting, but then again, i'm a redneck who uses truck beds :p

Re: Pimp my Bed

spray in liner from eastwood (gatorgaurd) not as thick as rhinolining but the truck wont be used for work anyway. applies easy with an undercoating gun.

as for bed covers I love my truxedo cover, low profile design and stays tight,no snaps to deal with either.probably one of the better covers Ive dealt with over the years.

Re: Pimp my Bed

Bedrug no longer makes a version for the 1st gen S10 bed. They used to though, as I had a boss who had one about 5 years ago.

Re: Pimp my Bed

The bed of my truck was beat when I got it - including some major dents in the sheet metal around the wheel wells. I used Herculiner (~ $100 from any auto parts store) a few years ago and I'm still quite happy with the results. Added bonus is that it provides a non-skid surface that keeps most things where you put them.

Here are a couple of 'before and after' pics:

performancecenter.com sells a bedrug made by Gaylords, which is supposed to be nicer than the original bedrug. It is $324 with shipping. I just ordered one. It says two weeks for shipping. I will post my opinion and some photos once it arrives.

Re: Pimp my Bed

I sprayed my bed liner at work for free. It is the Reflex brand ruberized stuff. I love it. I will post some pics when the truck gets out of the body shop.

p.s. my dealer charges customers $1000 for this bed liner
