random sy ty thought of the day

I have come to the conclusion that owning one really messes you up... You drive it down the road and its like driving with a naked lady on the hood... everything else is just a mode of transportation

Your coming on here hoping we disagree with you or agree? Isn't this like the AA group going out to the bars as an outing? We are all messed up and just enjoy being in that state of mind.

Good thing is it is legal, although probably not $mart.

Re: random sy ty thought of the day

Heres another nice random thought. Most of us have trucks that hate us, and it helps sometime throughout the day to stop and remind yourself "Hey, i own a Syclone and or Typhoon!".

This statement makes one feel better for around 15 minutes, then depression sets in.

Re: random sy ty thought of the day

Keep in mind some of us are crazy enough to own more than one

its the fact that there really isn't anything else like a sy/ty.. I can't think of many cars/trucks that are as violent/powerful and yet completely unrefined.

If ya own 2+ sytys and none of them run you're classified as a masochist heh.

IMO They are invisible on the road. 99.9% of ppl don't know what they are, which is cool, since you are not the car you drive. :cough:T-Bone :cough:

Sy Ty... the myth, the motion, the sickness...

I like the feeling of accomplishment for those short periods of time it actually runs or is drivable between repairs, breakages or upgrades.
All of which seem to necessitate excessive down time accompanied by periods of loneliness and self doubt.

Yup its a lot like AA.

We pride ourselves for owning sleepers yet many don't understand why these trucks don't sell for much given their rarity. Bottom line is people don't want what they don't know about...

What's sad is I still have to educate people on what they are - 15 years later. Most still don't understand.

I have could not have said that any better. Thats one reason they are 30k for a nice truck. If there had been a Syclone or a Typhoon in Fast and the Furious movie instead of the Surpa we would be sit'n pretty. Look at what that movie did for the price of Supras. The price is the only reason I dont own one. Syclones are much more affordable. I think..... Depends if Supras break just as much as our trucks do.

What's sad is I still have to educate GM dealers on what they are! (All so they can try to charge me $22 for a $2 rubber centercap o-ring, for example...)

Still toying with bringing my Typhoon into the local dealer for the ELC lever pivot recall :) They're not legally obligated to stock parts, but they are obligated to mitigate the problem at no cost to the owner regardless of how much time passes.

As mentioned above, I like the fact that most people - car guys included, still do not know what I'm driving. That also makes those rare thumbs up all the more special. I'm one of the ones who asked before purchase, "if these can be reliable daily drivers"? Most said no, but next month will be 4 years (& almost 80K miles) of daily driving duties. I hear it from friends that I need to put it away, and I agree as it is starting to show signs of being a DD. It runs good and some it'll have a new trans and new shoes. I'll be sure to post up a pic when the shoes go on.

This is my favorite thing to do. I love going to the dealer, looking at a car and then when the salesman asks if your are trading in the lowered jimmy, I laugh. Then have to proceed expalin that it is factory. While they ponder that thought and don't believe you get in and boost launch it out of the lot to convince them. Try this one, take the parts manager for a quick ride with a launch or two and then get your parts a 10% over cost....... well it worked for me. I also love going through the lot of the vette dealer that wanted my truck but I had first dibs. When I bought the Ty I went to them looking for a Sy and they wouldn't give me the time of day, showed up 2 days later in the Ty and they changed their tune real quick....can I get your # and we will look for one for you.
