Road Course Test n Tune & Autox

First video was taken at Reno Fernley Raceway in September. This was a test n tune session aimed at dialing the new brakes in. With the new dual master cylinder w/ balance bar and remote cockpit adjuster, I was able to dial the brake bias in. My biggest concern was the rear brakes locking before the fronts. The lap in the video is not an all out lap, rather it was a shakedown run to gain confidence in the new brake system. Last thing I wanted to do was end up backwards in the sagebrush from rear brake lockup or straight ahead into a tire barrier in case the brakes failed. Btw, I was told not to drag dirt onto the roadcourse as I was running in between a motorcycle racing instruction school, so I kept fairly clear of the rumble strips. Also FWIW, the water you see on the windshield is exiting the spray nozzle due to the g force in the turns and acceleration.

The second video clip was taken at the final Reno SCCA points event at Stead Airport. My Syclone was very competitive and was within 3-4 seconds of the Viper and C6 Z06's that were running auto x slicks. I was running R Compound road race tires that don't come up to temp very quickly for short runs like autocross. I hope to have the results from the event soon.

Truckless. For now.

Cool vids

So on the track test, how fast were you running? It's really deceptive with the camera setup you've got, not to mention having no real point of reference outside the truck to judge speed. It would be cool to see your guages during those runs.

I wasn't pushing it too hard. In the straight before the esses, I don't remember exactly on that run, but I was up to maybe 115 mph before entering the esses when I gained more confidence in the trucks new setup. The video does give the appearance of moving slower than it actually was and you don't get a sense of the g cornering, braking and even acceleration loads.

Very cool Adam ! Such a smooth truck too. Very quiet it seemed in the vids.
A guy almost needs the camera outside and above the truck to feel the violence of it all.
Well done................Vinny

That's a 2 second penalty!!!

I think pretty much any GM vehicle from 93 and older get alittle excited when you corner hard and make a mess on the windshield. Both my car and truck do it when I autocross them.

I'd like to see some exterior picts of your truck going around a corner to see how much it leans. It seems like it's alittle less than my truck, but not much.

Not much body roll with the new suspension. The adjustable rear sway bar helps a ton. I'm going to convert to a nascar style sway bar setup in the front soon.
