Yeah  This phenom seems to only happen when the Ty is under boost. Im gonna change out my PCV and see what happens. Anyone else experience this?

Also, I notice that she is very cold natured. Im not sure if its in the the PCV also?

Re: Smoke from steering column

I'm gonna guess you have a breather on one of your valve covers, and when in boost your pushing some pressure past valve seals and out through the breather. Kinda normal if you ask me if your heads have never been redone. I get it myself, and have thought about taking my breather out and make a extension for it to go out under the truck. Just a thought of mine though....:2cents:

If I had to guess it's smoke from blow by or you have an oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold.. You can do a simple test for blow by, by removing your oil fill with the engine running. If you feel air pushing out, you will need to start saving up for an engine.

If its coming out of the breather its 99.9% blow by. The rings or pistons are bad and the engine needs a rebuild.

Ok so i'm 1/2 right in that it comes from pressure. The rings, bad pistons, old shitty valve seals or sealing.... sounds like a 4.3....

I was really hoping for some easy fix. Just finished rebuilding my Type T. Wifey is gonna blow a headgasket over this...

Then don't rebiuld it yet, mines been like this for like 10k miles. Boost makes up for some leaks. Just drive it and slowly get stuff together. It shouldn't do any real damage anyways....:2cents:

Re: Smoke from steering column

i've owned a couple turbo cars with so much blow by, that removing the fill cap would net you a face full of oil, not a syty mind you but still, i got over 10k miles out of each one, after finding that out, and as far as i know the cars lasted for quite sometime after that.

so don't go assuming it's all over and done with right this instant. just be nice to it and slowly collect parts, you'll be fine.
