starting the search

i have scoured this board for the last 2 weeks getting a idea of what these trucks are going for.my brother is a member on here for the last 3-4 years ( blk97ta) and i know these trucks have fallen in price considerably,

so what i am really looking for is the best deal i can get.budget will be less than $10,000 hopefully in the $5k-7k range and running.

prefer a ty, prefer 1 color ,i guess some of these have factory sunroofs that would be great,obviously the least amount the mileage the better prefer100,000 or less miles

if you kinda have a project price has to reflect condition.no rotted trucks,no salvage or wrecked trucks, needing engine or tranny work may be fine as long as they are lower mileage with decent paint/interior

may also be interested in a syclone but not my first choice but if the deal is right i may be a buyer.

really prefer a stock truck with the least amount of mods i also prefer the stock wheels.

i am located in connecticut so the closer the better.not really interested in trucks in cali or utah even though that's where there seems to be a lot of the not really sure about florida either but they have a better chance because i have relatives down there.


bottom line i want the best deal possible within my budget as close as possible to home.i am not in a rush.i also have a fleet or buick regal t type's that could possibly trade 1 of.

Tommynos on here has a sweet white/white Ty that is real nice. I don't know if he has decided to sell it yet or not? Shoot him a pm.

Welcome, Most Typhoons did not have a sunroof from the factory, they were added at the stealership. The only extra that you could choose was a CD player. And not to flame you but a running Ty for 5K-7K will need alot of work unless you get it from someone who doesn't know what they have.

ok thanks for the tip on the sunroof.i saw a black ty on here that had one forsale in ny it went for $7700 with 77,000 miles.

on page 3 in the forsale section there is what appears to be a decent truck for $5500 in ct but it was sold already

there was a red/grey ty in nj that was still not listed as sold and the last price on it was $5300 but it needed some love.

there are others that were listed that seemed to fit my criteria but the ads were a couple months old and i don't want to pm everybody or ask what is still available.who knows maybe 1 of the nicer higher priced trucks may come down in price.

again not in any kind of hurry i have tons of other cars and projects i always liked these trucks and there is no better time than now to buy..

PREFER ALL BLACK but i am more interested in a good deal.again i am in no hurry here just trying to take advantage on the low pricing going on right now!

gotcha. Try doing a search for a black one. You should be able to pull a few from the classifieds.

Most poeple on here own these as sort of a luxury, And we all know what they are, what theyre worth, and how many are left, you might want to keep searching: cl.com / autotrader.com / dupontregistry.com / hemmings.com I have over 100K miles, but 10 grand in a motor,fuel system and brakes etc. So its probably never for sale.

Mine is a white on white with no rack(truck # 0037)but has the rear spolier,mint condition inside and out and alot of members can verify this...it shows 129,000 but its easy to spot the motor is newer and I was told it was replaced in 2001 when it had 89,000 on it...The factory paint looks like new,no peeling or fades at all...Factory keyless entry,no rips tears or wear marks on the inside and everything works as new including the motor and trans and AWD...

This truck runs perfect with no missing,shaking at a idle or nothing!

I just added the moates ostrich and 3 bar for tuning,new tires on the stock rims,door handle,window motor,bilstein shocks front and rear,complete new front end parts and alignment,lowered with adco adjusters(1 1/2 inches) in the rear and adjusted it low in the front..new distrutor,cap,wires,plugs,fuel filter,oil change,manifold gaskets,new 3inch exhaust with bullet muffler,new tint,new front and rear speakers,has pillar with a boost gauge and a A./F meter..new H.D prop shaft(no noises and all is perfect),turbo had no play,new K&N filter,new fog lights,vacuum lines and check valves,new IAC and cleaned the throttle body with it off,new battery and keyless remote,wipers..And stickers too..

no rust on the truck,but it did have some very minor surface rust under the drivers door and in the rear hatch so we removed the rear hatch and brought it to metal then added the rust prevention and primed it and painted it with the exact match paint and added a door pin while we were in there..you would have never noticed it as it looks great!

Im sure im forgetting alot as everything is new,I went over board with it as I got it cheap from someone who didnt know what it was,so I replaced everything to make it like a new truck again...I would sell it for 9k obo and assure you that your getting a awesome truck and you dont need to fix anything!


It also has Ice cold A/C and it was just driven to the Miami meet which was a 3-4 hour cruise and it ran perfect..Since this picture I buffed it complete and waxed it and removed 1 inch off the drop in the rear so it looks even better.

I have a nice 92 Red/Gray that will be for sale soon, probably in a week or so. I'm in NE Ohio. I'm not 100% sure on price yet, but I'm thinking it will be around $6500.
