Which one of you guys welded your solids to the frame? (If I remember reading that correctly a few weeks ago..)

Do you change just the motor mount or do you also have to change the frame mount as well?

Depends. For polys you can just change the rubber mount.... for solids you have to change both frame pads and motor mounts

Can you keep the stock frame mounts?

For polys you have to change the frame mount as well.

Labor only, but still well worth it!!! Even if I did have to throw some new nuts and bolts in after they fell out, because they didn't install locking nuts!

It was actually JS's dad. He did it in his personal shop. And told me after, "Never again"

Do you mean just weld the plates together or something? I don't quite understand the objective here

I think what's happening here is this. The overall "thickness" of the original mount is approx 3 & 1/8 inch. That's the distance from the frame pad to the engine pad. (Although what I measured was the mount and frame pad together since mine are out.) The TurboTime frame pads and the Moroso engine pads add up to that amount but the bolt that ties them together is in a different location so you need both (the Moroso mount and someones mfg mount) to make it work. It appears that if you used the Moroso mount and original frame pads the motor would be low. Caveat: I'm new at this and mine are not installed yet but that's what it looks like to me.

This is correct, the only additional problem is that the moroso solids have a spacing face to face of 2 3/8", while the factory frame pads are almost 3" wide face to face. This causes the solids to not fit over the factory frame pads

I also noticed that the original, metric, through bolts are to small. Nice new 1/2 inchers will be necessary.

What I mean by the 2nd dumb ? was this. If you got a brand new motor mount to get all the measurements from and made a mount from steel :idea: , that match in all measurements. Could you then bolt the steel one to the engine and use the stock frame mount? Or is there some other reason to change out the frame mount?:dunno:

I've heard that before. Folks use them, I guess, because of alignment issues. I'll see what happens when I put mine together.:roll:

Nope, no reason in this instance. They're plenty strong, just the spacing is all wrong
