Re: brodix heads

Not sure if it is possible,,,but maybe you can contact Brodix & ask if you can locate the spark plug holes in a different spot than there normal position for straight plugs??

Does not hurt to ask.

My friend with the straight plug Brodix heads has some clearance issue but he found some high temp plug boot covers & does not burn them.

Re: brodix heads

You can or could order brodix heads with straight plug holes..

My friend has them on his Syclone & uses the stock exhaust manifolds.

We had a set here, had a *lot* of trouble with burned plug wires since they were so close to the manifolds.
The straight-plug Brodix don't put the plug where the stock plug was.

Could have them welded/redilled/tapped/machined, but that would be a lot of work.

Re: brodix heads

were you using the stock exhaust manifolds?

Yep.

It's possible that you could make it work, but it would involve a lot of heat shield, and would be a long-term PITA.

Bottom line - people looking at heads in this class are building something fairly serious.
Builds of that caliber generally involve headers, aftermarket engine management, and generally a lot of $.

Middle of the road builds are better off sticking to vortecs, or well-worked L35s. Better to spend money there (and the mods to support them), than throw it all at a built up set of brodies or bowtie or pontiacs.

It's a very expensive proposition to get a set of aluminum heads set up and working on a SyTy. Even if you get lucky on a used set of heads, it's going to cost you a lot to make the rest of the motor fit them.
