BOOSTED
So what started as a simple efan install and turbo removal has exploded into what you see now.
A little background on what had been happening since I got the truck was that I would see a trail of smoke while under medium acceleration. I started a thread and started taking things apart and eventually figured out my 2 yr. old turbo is fine. The 17 yr old PCV valve was stuck open and was literally spraying oil down the intake. Somewhere in the middle of all of this I caught the "while I'm there" syndrome and the rest is history
The whole reason I'm in this mess
The plan in mind for this thing is
*Replace 160,000 mile timing chain - DONE
*Matt Blum rebuild of throttle body - DONE
*Relocate battery to the back
*ABS delete - DONE
*Delete EGR - DONE
*Relocate MAP sensor to firewall - DONE
*Relocate coil - decided to keep in stock location
*Remove remote oil filter assembly and install an in-block filter - DONE
*replace every rubber hose - DONE
*Paint frame with Rustoleum Gloss black - DONE
*thermal wrap crossover and downpipe
*practically re-gasket the entire truck
*New water pump, PS pump, alternator, GM High Torque mini starter - all puchased
*Polish as much aluminum as possible
*Blast and powder coat everything else!
Disassembly begins
Timing chain
This thing had about 5/8" of slack
This is the first time I've actually had to drop the pan on a timing chain in a 90* motor, all the timing covers on my small blocks just slip right in, that took a while
Top end finally removed, damn injectors fought with me the whole time,
How it sits as of tonight, all too familiar to most of you I'm sure
