#0735 TT Ty gets fresh motor with upgrades...plus Fire Suppression System install.

Some of you may recall that I pulled my 305ci TT out of my 2wd Ty a couple of months ago to go through it for some possible problems with the original build. This also provided a good opportunity to do some upgrades.

A new LSM billet cam was installed...

242/238 duration
630/626 Lift
116* LSA

New Isky Endurance 9000 Springs were installed...

The new motor assembly was dyno run NA for break in...

452 hp/396 Tq @ 6,000 rpms

This was with a 750 dlouble pumper holley. We wanted to go on to 6,500 and 7,000 rpm but it became to lean to do so. If we had a larger carb we may have been able to see close to 500 hp.

The install went very smooth as all the lines were "AN" and the custom wiring harness was bascisally plug-in. Thanks to Bill Davis my original TT TY builder and fabricator everything went back together like a prefectly fit puzzle.

Another upgrade was the two new twins! These are new technology with the billet compressor wheel and the anti-surge cover.

Stunning, the attention to detail is not even lost in the pictures. What kind of power numbers are estimated now that the turbos are on?

yea what times has it ran? and if your ever goin to muncie to run it pm me id love to come and watch or help if u need a set of hands. i rem seeing you a LONG time ago running your other one there..

Very nice John. Great to see the motor back in and everything going again. I can't wait to see how it runs.

I bet Bill is glad to finally get both our trucks out of his shop, he's going to miss us!

how come you dynoed without the turbos? jut to break in the motor?

I make two passes last fall at Muncie Raceway. The first was just an easy foot brake and 6,000 rpm shift point with 10-12 lbs of boost. It ran a 10.75 et at 135 mph with a 1.80 60'. I wasn't trying to hole shot it or anything as it was the first time on the track and I didn't know how it would react.

Everything felt fine on the first run so Idecided to push it a little for the second pass. I left on the trans break at 2,500 rpm and instantly broke loose. I got out of it and then pedaled it a couple of times. It eventually hooked. The 60' was a wooping 2.02 sec. By the 1/8th it was coming alive with a 114 mph. I ran the traps right at 7,000 rpm. The ET was only 10.72, but the trap speed was 148.9 mph. The boost was set at 15-16 lbs for this run.

Just to break in the motor. It is a big task to set up a turbo motor on a dyno. Nolan and Mark do it on their dyno. The shop that built my motor has the popular Land and Sea dyno and dyno a lot of circle track and drag motors. They don't really do EFI motors let alone boosted setups. I would have to take in all my piping, wire harness and FXI computer, fuel pump, etc, etc. It wasn't going to happen.

It is also a good thing to have the machine shop that does the machining work also assemble the motor and test it before it leaves their shop. It keeps from pointing fingers if something goes wrong.
