I was just sort of cruzin around one night, when i pulled up to a light. A few seconds later a Suburu WRX pulls next to me. HE rolls down his window, i do the same. He tells me he had not ever raced a Syclone. I told him,"Do you see the Sonoma GT on the door? Cause thats what it is." He says bull shit, I say what ever. He starts reving, i figure, what the hell, i dont care if i get my ass hung to me by a WRX. I power brake to a point just before the tires break lose, which is about 2200 rmp, or so. I launched right as it went green, some how i take him off the line. I glance back, & see his front tires spinning. As soon as he hit 2nd, he had recoupled his losses, meeting my passenger door, but then i hit 2nd, which i opened a tiny gap between us agin, when he hit 3rd, he slowly walked passed me, by this piont neither of as were gaining much ground.He the shut down at 70 as did I.
He pulls in to a parking lot, so I followed. When we stopped, he asked to see the motor(him thinking it was the Sy/Ty motor). When I opened the hood, he was fairly dissapionted. I told him,"Told you it was'nt a Syclone". He then asked me how I hung with him, I told him I don't know.
Later that night, I talked with another WRX owner, & he said that since its AWD, & manual, it has some special MOMO package, that makes the driver really have to drive it. He said there is a certin way to drive the car, if you dont do it, it won't perform at its the best of it abilitys. I dont know anything about these cars.
My only mods are a K&N filter, Vortec Exhaust, & Hyper-tech chip. I have also rigged a sort of ram-air system up(routing the hose right to front of grille, just to the side of the radiator, only the filter slows incoming air), It seems to have more power, but maybe I am just imagining things.
One last comment, I really dont know what year Suburu it is, but I am pretty sure it is the newest. If you ever watch World Rally, it is the same body style as Tommy Makiden's WRX Race car.
