Abs/Brake lights but no codes

Truckless. For now.
Re: Abs/Brake lights but no codes

It's not my knowledge, but a friend says, "You have to jumper A & G in the ALDL to pull ABS codes. If both lights are on, the most likely code to be set is 86."

Hope that helps.

61 is for an internal motor failure and 38 is a valve failure. replace the unit and youll be good to go- or delete it.

if you want to keep the abs I have a unit taken out of a typhoon that was working when I took it out- I can ship it to you for 50$

Re: Abs/Brake lights but no codes

There's a way to cycle the abs motor using the paper clip method. Ive had the light come on so I reset the abs and its been gone ever since. I think there is a write up somewhere here. I did a ton of reading on it and decided to reset the abs module/motor.

Re: Abs/Brake lights but no codes

I usually cycle the abs unit with the tech1 and change the fluid. Deleting the unit is ridiculous. Of the three units i've see "broken" they were easily fixed.

I've see more wheel speed sensors bad than units (1:5 ratio too)

I didn't say remove it because it can't be fixed. I said it should be removed because the ABS on these truck is laughable at best.

Was hoping for an easy fix for now so I would have to remove it this quickly. Oh well guess I'll put it on the to do list.

Ditto, I'll be deleting mine soon enough. I have a kit to delete it but just haven't done it. It is true the abs system they put in these trucks was in its infancy and the tsb proves thus along with gm even seeing it as being a pile of poop.

Just as update for later searchers. I reset the system and have not yet had the light come back on. I will however be pulling the ABS out later this year so I don't have to deal with it.

How exactly do you pull the ABS codes as well as reset. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
