Wow, that sucks dude. Glad your ok though. Best of luck with the ins. company.

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

Let them total it, and tell them you want to keep the truck, allstate let me do that before, I had it fixed, and back on the road in a couple of months. In NY at least if the vehicle is over 10 years old and it is totalled, you dont have to get a salvage title to get it back on the road after you fix it up. Worse comes to worse, keep it, use the money to by another TY, or a SY, and use the parts on it, or part it out. Either way you really win. It would be a shame to see another TY go to the junkyard, there are so few left :( Well no matter what happens, we are just glad you are ok

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

Yeah, not quite as bad as I thought it would be. My buddy had the ins company total a car and bought it back for a song. Just haggle with them and get ir back!

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

I know about the "It's not that bad" part at first glance. Problem is, as they pull it appart to do a full quote, the more they pull off the more they find wrong.

There does look to be some frame dammage, as when you open the passenger door it instantly drops 1/2" to an 1", looks like the body kind of bent upward right there at the A pillar, into the roof. Also looks like the wreck pushed back the heater assembly into the truck some. The waste gate accuator for the turbo is toast, boost control selinoid is toast. still didn't have enough off to see if the turbo its self ate anything, but the water & oil lines are toast. The main battery wiring harness was pushed back onto the exhaust housing of the turbo, melted everything there The red top I was happy to have as its an older one that started the truck problem free many o times, exploded. it still had enough juice to roll the windows up 3-4 days later.. I'm supprised it didn't short out, and the guy doing the work pulling it couldn't belive I didn't have a fire will all that and the trans fluid that sprayed EVERYWHERE. The A/C condensor, radatior, aux cooler, & trans cooler were mashed into one, and all of the coolant lines, oil lines, trans lines, A/C lines are bent/torn/ripped.

So much is crammed under our hoods, even more so with all the after market BS I had. I'm putting my money on double the original estimate of 7800 up to 15,600 at least in damage.

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

its bent at the crush boxes itll need a new frame, but the frame you have did its job by taking the hit. let them fix it if they want im sure rockford racecraft can hook you up on the clading.

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

That honestly isn't that bad. Talk them up on the value of the truck before the accident, then talk them down on the salvage value. Buy it back, and either fix it, or sell it on the board for a profit

It will take some TLC but it can be repaired. I think that is similiar to how smaug's Ty looked before he fixed it.

Re: Add another one to the graveyard

Sorry to hear. Glad your ok. But I have a question. What would the insurance do with the truck afterwards? Sell it to a junkyard? just wondering.
