Another Ty Wrecked. 5K in damage :(

And apparently the Ty is only worth $3700 :roll: according to some jerk off bodyshop guy that had no idea what he was talking about. he argued with me about damage, saying some of it wasnt done in this wreck, that it was wrecked before, and wasnt fixed right. i offerd to bring him pics for proof and that shut him up. any way... i went to a couple shops with great reputations and ill probably be getting a full paint job as i want to do fender mods, an aftermarket hood and shave the roof rack. One shop i went to did the paint/body for the 99 nats best of show winner. the other is a shop that will soon be competing on a nationl level because they are kicking everyone elses asses here in CO. 8)

my front end had more damage thatn that but has been repaired since then

i think the cervini hood would look killer, but i'm a little partial to them anyway ;). Fender mod is cool too. you gonna get your cladding painted/cleared as well? I would suggest the "flat" paint approach to your cladding. there was a topic here about it somewhere. for black/black trucks, i think it's the only way to go. let me know when you and marty start hacking away at stuff again, and maybe i can make it up to chill or whatever.

keep us updated on the progress.

Actually it had nothing to do with winter. and no was definealty not because of the winter fun. i really have no idea how/why it happened. Why isnt really important to me. it happend and i have to deal. im staying positive because i wont get anything done if i dont.

sending it to the junker is not an option for me. especially since it is %100 drivable. the allignment (that i just got :x ) is a little cocked, but not bad. i could part it out but id just end up buying another and blowing more money on it. Im addicted to Sytys and will always need a fix. :D

about the cladding... i think im gonna 93ize it. theres just somthing about the gloss black that makes me feel special :lol: im also contumplating doing custom paint. nothing crazy...

if i do go black it defineatly wont be stock color. it will be DARK! possibly the Black that comes on the new subie STi. its insanely metallic and almost a gun metal. i know some of you purists wouldnt be happy about it, but im just doing my part in getting rid of the stock SyTys. :lol:

And if any of you know who John May is, i think he will be painting it. he said he will give a discount if i do a whole paint job, and he said "That way i can make it look how i want it to, instead of having to leave the orange peel in it." he also said if i help out on the work it will cost me less. 8) having worked on a coulple blazers before, and helping my dad do my corvette, id be happy to do some sanding to knock some dollars off.

That's Roland Blaas's Typhoon. It is located in Zurich, Switzerland. It is a difficult mod that he said required upwards of 40hrs modification time in the body shop. The Range Rover parts were 400€ alone (About $450 or so)

It's a beautiful modification and is very functional. It is also very costly in more ways than one.

Oh and ben...I'll be in Englewood from 19 Dec - 2 Jan...let me know if you want to get together for lunch.

that would be awesome Ryan! Englewood is maybe a 20min drive with traffic. (of course thats in the typhoon, and my throttle sensor only reads %100 on the highway...:lol:) Seriously though thats not far at all from me.

And thank you very much for the info on the fenders. i wont have that much to spend, so i think im going to have to "Fake it" but hopefully i can come up with something. 8)

i like your paint idea. if you're going custom paint, gotta go custom cladding too. ;) i just suggested the flat look if you were staying stock paint.

Yea, i think were gonna shave the door handles too.
so if you guy want my door esthcushions(sp?) pm me. otherwise i'll put em up on ebay.

you guys should do marty's idea of 2nd gen handles. that would look slick! i don't think shaved would look good on a ty for some reason. and isn't there a reg against shaved handles for racing?

marty and i are talking about getting together to drop my truck sometime if the weathers good on a weekend. we could have a regular wrenching session between your's and mine. haha.

they will be going on mine. the duck will be 98% factory when im done.

Unfortunately the guy I was dealing with out in Cali went MIA, so now my door handle connection went bye bye, but Im trying to track some down out here. It seems easier said than done :(

I probably wont get to cutting and welding till Feb-March. I have about a dozen major modifications going on this winter to my truck with the door handles probably being the cheapest and easiest, not to mention I have the Duck to finish. Hopefully Ill have everything done by Nationals.....

I think it looks amazing! This is Rolands Ty again, i guess its before the fenders though... Man he likes it LOW!

They Let DJ race with no handles... of course he was only doing 15s, but he did have the n20. I could probably get away with it at T&Ts. I hit 3 13s this past summer and not one was with a helmet. they never said a thing to me.
