Hey Ryan:
The reason I suggested an AIR Locker is so that it can be unlocked when one is driving normally---if that ever happens in a TT Sy.
The Air-Locker doesn't fit in our standard 7.5" front differential but will fit in an 8.5" GM unit if the unit can be made to fit without destroying the geometry.

I would definitely like to hear about realistic alternatives for the front differential. What does your drivetrain expert suggest?

I have a sneaking suspicion that this will become more of a topic of discussion as my truck starts to make some passes  But we have talked about it a bit in the past and he suggested a Dana unit, not sure how it would fit etc but mechanically if it can work he'll figure it out. He and my motor builder will be going to the NATS this year so if you guys want to pick their brains I would HIGHLY recommend that you do so. You can always shorten the tubes etc, I would mostly be concerned with the size of the pumpkin as it cannot be much larger or shaped too much differently than it already is. Should be an interesting year. 8-P

Thanks for the complement. Truck is running, had an old version of the Oddfire program. Lance was nice enough to upgrade the box very quickly, I'd like to say thanks to him and the guys at FAST. Now that the box is back it runs fine, still chasing down something with the trans, should be roadworthy very soon. I'll try to get some vids up at CHITOWNSYTY and Marty mentioned something about Sportsmachines so...I have gone out of my way to keep it AWD, single turbo, V6

YES...wow the million dollar question, honestly who knows sooo much has changed in the past 3 years...motor, trans, x-fer case, rear end, brakes, wheels, driveshafts...so who knows. That is a lot to factor in. Hopefully we find out soon.

I am guessing Ryan will run 12's

Something about having a 4wd gear shifter in the cab of a Ty just doesn't look right.

I am sure there are a lot of people truly look forward to seeing what Ryan's truck will do. I am one. I have seen pics - I have seen it in person. This thing is beautiful. Body work is a different story - but it is one of the few Tys, besides my own, that I got excited to see. I don't know a lot of the story behind all the work that has gone into it but I am sure there has been more work done to his truck in the past year then most of our trucks have had in their lives. Gonna be a fun Nats. Good luck Ryan - let me know when it is going to the track.

Rol: I think I'm gonna have myself burried in this damn thing

GM Turbo: Just wait til the shifter is completed, you may like it more but it is definitely different. Thanks for the kind words helps keep me going. The cladding is back on so it does look better but it has been through hell the past 2.5 years so a repaint is forthcoming and it should look a lot better. Once we get some time behind the wheel etc I will let you know. Hopefully sometime this March...Later

Hi guys,

I know this topic is a little old, but if anyone is still interested I can give you a little info on my stokes syclone. If you would like to see some pix of it, Jessee at HyRyde has posted some on his site for me (since I am a little computer illeterate and don't have a website). look under his gallery. Stokes did the whole truck. 1000Hp propshaft, sluminun driveshaft, complete 12 bolt mark williams rear end. total miles is 7K and it is perfect. The timeslip is handwritten because it is so light that I can't get a good enough enough scan to make it readable, but it is an exact copy. I got it from my buddy who has had it for a few years that I run around, and when he decided he wanted to buy an 8 second GN and needed the money it became mine. Jim Stokes told me that it was dynoed on 104 octane and last year we ran the speedpro on the same tune but on 110, went from 24 to 26 pounds, and it was running fat. Also, it had a sick tranny that was losing high gear so I think it has a little better top end to it. This spring will tell if only my new maxed out Rossler 700 stays together. I have a 400 sitting ready to go in but I think if I do it will slow it down. Stokes says that my setup should run 10.7 as it came from him. It's my hope that if I tune better and lean it out with 116 and a couple of other things that I've done I might see 10.6's. Anyone interested in what's in a stokes motot just email me and I'll be happy to share. I to am interested to see how Ryan runs. His pix of the engine build show a lot of dedication and from what I've read he has soaked a tremendous amount of bucks in it. I hope to meet him at the nationals and buy him a beer and talk to him about his build. Also brian green is knocking on the 10 sec door if he hasn't doneit already. What Tony and Nolan from Canada did on a worked stock computed I think is amazing!! I think that for me to go much faster would take major dollars, and I will never NOT be AWD. syclones were AWD. Make em rear wheel and they do go faster, but so will a ford lightning if you put a 600 inch blown engine in it. It's just not a lightning anymore. Sy and ty were AWD. i just love the syclones. not dissing anyone, and I like to see folks go fast. hell, the McCoys are all friends of mine and I will always cheer ya'll on. The workmanship on Stokes is flawless and I think it is pretty fast.

Surprised to see this post come to life again  Anyways, the only clean passes I've made so far were at the 02 Nats in Chicago and that was the first time it had ever been to the track. I was running 10PSI and shifting at 6500RPMS first pass ever was 11.67 @ 120 with a 2.15 sixty foot, very good time despite the horrible start, second pass was 11.92 @ 123 with another woeful 2.2 sixty foot, and the best pass was 11.60 @ 125 with a 1.8 sixty foot. I was unable to build any boost on the brakes as I had an MPBrakes master cylinder and booster which were too small (FYI stay away from MPBrakes their service is horrible and they don't know diddly about SYTY's) Anyway the tune was also a safe one that made 625HP and 700LBS of torque on the dyno. The brakes have been fixed and I can launch like you wouldn't believe, I'd say its pulling 1.50 sixties easy now...just need good weather and an open track and we should be in good shape to assualt the 10's. I've had it on the highway and turned the boost up to 15PSI and it was pretty scary, I drove it the other day and even on 10PSI and AWD I can't keep it straight on the street even with the Hoosier drag radials. If we can sixty foot and get some more dyno time I'm thinkin 26PSI and shift at 7,000RPMS and well who knows but I'd be willing to bet you'll be seeing some 130-140MPH trap speeds. Brakes are gooder. Can't wait for spring.

I can't wait to hear results!! That thing is wild, saw it at nats! Good luck!

just curious about what size turbo you're running. sounds like it is really pulling downrange especially with such low boost

Yours is prettier for the time being...I have a few plans on making mine pretty again, but for now I'm not going to worry about. Is the 25th your party? You may need to fill me in as I haven't been reading the board much.
