Frank's Truck Kicks Ass!!

I took some photos under the hood at Nationals 2007. Stock manifolds, baby!

In fact, does that make Frank the fastest SyTy ever to run stock exhaust manifolds??

frank

lane2 = no cone

the cone is there so that street tires dont rip up the rubber in the groove.

By .03 of a second. Nolan with a 10.79 is next in line.

Find it interesting all the fast trucks seem to come from the same track....anyone else notice that?

Its not the land but the MAN.

HARRY ANDERSON

Atco is not the fastest (most well prepped) track around here.

Cecil county MD on average has Atco beat hands down when it comes to track prep.

All you have to do around here is hook up with harry, do what he tells you to do, ignore everyone elses advice, and you will run faster.

Start mixing in others input or think you can do better on your own and you will very soon get nowhere.

it must really suck to live far from here. lol :)

I dunno, while harry is apparently very good at what he does (and the nj trucks does prove this), NJ has had 3 sub 11second trucks.. tom ferrick, ed hess, and Frank...

meanwhile other areas have gone just as fast, canada, georgia, hoovers, robert, bully, etc..

seems like with the right setup and the right tuning these trucks can go fast, doesn't really matter where they are from.

Well that can be said about ANY vehicle.

My point is that is helps greatly being at sea level or below sea level. That is why I asked what the DA was, didn't get an answer though.

But at the same time that in no way is meant to take away anything from any of the vehicles running at those levels. Where it does help, it doesn't do it all, the knowledge and the parts and the time must also be there.

To say that the 10.76 ran at or below sea level would run the same here in chicago, or in denver would incorrect. You would see a nice difference, I personally think you would see an 11 second truck.

That sb2 syclone ran what, 9.55 in mile high air but again it seemed that no one took into consideration the altitude. Something that seems to get looked over quite a bit on this board. WHich is surprising considering we all are forced induction.

But when all said and done its not like he ca'nt go around saying he has a 10 second truck, because when the days over that is what it is, a nice, clean, 10 second truck. You race at the track that is most assessable, there is nothing wrong with that.

for what its worth, my best time in my stock truck was at my local track.. island dragway in liberty, nj.. it is up in the mountains but in the fall the track hooks and the air is so cold my truck loves it..

that was a 13.6, my best at any other track was a 13.9.. of course the main difference is summer and fall.

Chicago (or at least, the "Chicago" dragstrip for 2002 SyTy Nationals, Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin) is only 800 ABSL. You think 800 feet is going to take 4 tenths off Frank's times? (Assuming Atco is at 0 ABSL)

At Kansas City nats, his times were similar to his home times, he already explained that.

Atco is 90 feet above sea level. But tooky, you seem to forget about air and other factors as well. Was the air good that day? Was it humid? So in the end the DA could be -1200 or it could be right at 0, that is why I asked what the DA that day was. Edit #2 - math isn't my strong suit but I don't believe we are talking about .4 either, but rather .24. let me guess, no difference in that either?

Here is a chart for correcting times based on altitude, Atco doesn't even fit on the chart!

http://www.iroc-zpostforum.com/NHRACF.htm

I feel like I am putting the guy down and his truck and that's not the point I want to make. I just don't understand how some people can dismiss a vital aspect especially when trying to take claim to a position on the fastest truck list.

So his times were similar in KC? this year I assume? How similiar, what was the DA then? How were the other factors.

I have friends NA cars that drop .2 just from good air, don't tell me a forced induction motor isn't going to do that.

Added: Simple solution would be to put the DA and the weight of the vehicles in the list of fastest trucks.

Check Post #17 in this thread.

Yeah, the weight and DA are certainly valid variables when comparing. But it doesn't change the times that were run. It ran what it ran. The truck that ran 9.55 at high altitude "might have" ran faster elsewhere. But it didn't. It ran what it ran. :dunno:

Who cares... A Timeslip is a Timeslip. Homey is running the numbers and when it comes to bragging rights its the timeslip that counts. Correction factors are gay in drag racing. I cant believe this thread has evolved to this discussion.

He also raised the boost and changed the tune between the 11 second runs and the 10.76.

I cant believe I agree with Tookmeister. Lemme go back and see if there is something to disagree with...

I agree to an extent, but when comparing vehicles even more so with the title of "fastest/quickest in the world" being tossed around a level playing field should not be too much to ask.

How about me and you line up and race but you are required to weigh in 1000lbs heavier. Your telling me your not going to complain? its the exact same thing when one person is racing a 1/4 lower in altitude them others.

You are right though, I can not believe either that people do not seem to grasp that point.

What the hell "smaug" You leave me out of those names, My truck may run 11.3 @ 118 but that is on 17lbs of boost. Me & Harry are slowly seeing how far this GT35R Turbo will go with this truck hoping to get into the mid 10's once we tune in the Alky or Race Gas. I don't know how many trucks are running straight pump gas, on 9.2-9.8 AFR and going 11.3-11.4 @ the track. Of course i just figured out one problem which could of put me into the 11.2-11.1 bracket the other night but that is too late since i was removed from the track for going to fast without a cage.

Soon it will be a 10 sec truck!

He's ran the time on video and has the slip.. he has many slips and videos of sub 11 second passes which in my mind proves he's got a 10 second ride and it's not just a one shot got lucky kind of deal and I get what people are saying about altitude correction and shit but the fact of the matter is if you live in the mountains and your trying to best a record, why handicap yourself and sit back and bitch saying if I wasn't a bajillion miles above sea level my truck would be three seconds faster in the 1/4.. that's gay if you ask me :)

I agree that the Da and your elavation do factor into how much power you can make on a given night on the same tune. Thats why pro racers use tons of data from track to track to try to compensate for the conditions. Thats part of racing. A record is a record if you think the place it was set at is the reason for the faster times, Well than the answer is drive your ass down here and run at our tracks. You might as well start factoring in how fat i am or how much the truck weighs for that matter. Im sure if i ran my truck in denver it be slower but id bet i can still run 10s with some tune time. Dont sweat the details just injoy all the cool videos we post.
