Autocross

Final post before the event.

What you need:

- Working safety equipment (seat belt, etc...).
- Properly working brakes.
- No leaks of any kind.
- A helmet (we'll have a few to borrow if you need one).

What we need:

- More cones (if you have some (even 1 or 2) that you can spare, please bring them with).
- Help (if you're running, you're helping.....if not, you're still more than welcome to help).
- Air compressor/gauge for general use. Most of you will want to over-inflate your tires for the run(s), so if someone (local?) has a small compressor that they can bring, that'd be awesome.

I'll be there Thursday laying out the course with Dobrick and making some trial runs. On the day of the run, we'll have a short drivers meeting before the event, a course walk-through, tech, and runs. Pretty simple.....and it will be pretty simple. Timing will be done with stopwatch, and since there are only a handful of trucks running, we'll only have one truck on course at a time. That way, everyone gets to watch, there's less pressure on the driver, minimal risk, and helps us route finish back towards the start for easier timing. Times will be hand written, but will be posted on the forum after Nats.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If I have more to add, I'll edit this post.

Re: Autocross

I have a small compressor in the motorhome. Won't fill 100 tires in 15 minutes but could do a set of 4 here and there no problem.

Re: Autocross

what size cones are we using, the 12-15" or the 2-3' tall ones?

I dont know if I will have room or not, between shirts, trophies, tools and my own personal luggage, cones might be pushing it, but I will certainly try.

Re: Autocross

Ya know, with all the construction that all the peeps driving through will encounter, cones shouldn't be a problem... just grab one as you pass.

Seriously, though... isn't there a untied rentals or something nearby that you could rent a stack of 'em?

Yeah, Dobrick mentioned that, and it is an option.....but if we can can get out of extra expenses, then all the better.

4....damn this could be an interesting course right here......

go up do 3 donutes around cone 1, heading towards cone 2...proceed to do 3 oppposite donutes around that then head to cone 4, while your heading to cone 4 we will move cone 1 and it will become cone 5....it will all make sense just try it.

That'll work great. At most, someone will need to go from 30 to 50 psi (not a lot of air).
