Not so fast, this one dobreak has a shot at!
You don't have to be the fastest to take the turns. ;)

It will be fun to see back to back runs of a truck with coilovers and one without.

I'll put up a more detailed post tomorrow, but yeah, Me & Dobrick are gonna take the reins on this thing (that's what she said), but there will be ample room & need for people to assist. Much has to be done behind the scenes, but I'll be sure to detail the event here once I get a chance.

There is A circle track there to drop the prop shaft & do A little drifting. That would be awsome...

I volunteer Jeff to be a cone.

hopefully I'll be able to compete, probably not very well, but the coil overs should help.

They already call me a conehead, what more do you want.

For anybody on the fence of going to nats or not you better plan to attend. We have a lot of ideas floating around and some motivated people making it happen.

Ideas are being tossed around daily, autocross coming back to nats is just one more

There is more coming don't miss it.

Are you going to group steering mods in with suspension mods? A ZQ8 box and steering shaft upgrade can make a big difference.

Re: Autocrossing at Nats 11

Not sure what the intent is, but the last one wasn't a competitive thing. Lots of different setups ran, more or less for the fun of it, and bragging rights.

I was close to the fastest time, as I recall, with 100% stock suspension and original tires. Took me about 3 passes before I figured out the course, though.

I think trying to make this super-competitive would only serve to keep people from doing it, since they'd think they have no chance. If it's presented simply as a good chance to drive like a lunatic and not get arrested or hurt, then you'll have a lot of folks on board. :)

Everyone should try this, even if you aren't set up, or are any good. It's fun to watch too. Also, passengers are cool too, so you can scare the scrap out of your wife/girlfriend/whomever.

The drag racing is gonna be competitive enough. I think in keeping this mostly for fun, we'll see a more laid back atmosphere, more people willing to run, and generally a more enjoyable event. Making this competitive would become a nightmare with a quickness.....as in 20 classes, a PAX index, pro timing equipment, and professionally done course layout. It just isn't worth that, IMO.

If someone wants to be competitive at AutoX...attend a regional event. The Nats are for fun IMO.

Another idea, along the same lines...

Have a braking challenge/science project. Guys get up to 60MPH, and hit the binders once they've past a couple of cones. Measure the distance.

Take the specs of their braking system (stock, LS1, z06,baer, etc), tires, and the weight of the vehicle.
This should give folks a good picture of what a given brake mod will do for them. Doesn't indicate fade, but you do get some info.

X2. The 3 classes are just so more people can be awarded trophies and stuff!!!!!!

Re: Autocrossing at Nats 11

FUN is the big word here everybody needs to read into these events we are setting up.

A few bragging rights maybe, but come to nats expecting to have FUN.

Where else can you go watch and drive your truck through some cones and aim for me standing in the middle?

We are going to work on a go-cart event also, again for FUN. Think about how much you will be laughing when 4 people gang up on hood and push him into and over the tire wall and down the embankment?

I am looking forward to the autocross, I have never tried it, but its something I have wanted to do for a while. I probably won't be too competitive, but I think it will be fun.
