so this might seem like a dumb question but alot of people ask me why i dont have BOV, the truck is a turbo. Many of my friends have them on there turbo cars. So my question is why havent people been putting them on there typhoons or Syclones.

Re: BOV on a sy

they do it for the sound mostly. and if you hate the turbo flutter (some say it's bad for a turbo and i agree on that part) but not for improving the performance of the truck..longer lifetime of turbo. or coolness

Re: BOV on a sy

Some times when Im runing 20psi and I let off the gas the surge can blow off piping. It happened to me once. A BOV would prevent that from happening.
I think the stock turbo flutter sounds stupid. With a big turbo it sounds really cool. Its all in what you like.

Automatic Vs Manual

BOV's work and will help turbo life/ and spool up. You just see the gains on a manual car over a auto. Air path never is never closed in the 1/4 mile with an auto.

A BOV is factory installed on Porshes , Saabs, and other high end turbo cars! So its a good idea!

Automatic Vs Manual...

Bingo! Manual vehicles see many more throttle drops due to the manual shifts. When someone lets off of the gas abruptly the pressurized intake air has to go somewhere. The BV routes the excess pressure that is cut off by the throttle plate out of the intake plumbing. This is definitely better than being routed back out the way it came, over the compressor wheel (compressor surge). Driving an automatic vehicle, we don't jump off the throttle while we're in boost as often as with a manual.

Blow-off valves are a great way to protect your expensive turbo. However, it's another component that must be installed correctly, and potentially another part to fail.

I recommend a TiAL 50mm Blow-off valve.
