Re: Bowling Green, KY - Beech Bend Dragstrip

I did a 2# launch and pulled a 1.62 - 60', 10.9x @ 125.

Running AWD, that is an impressive time given your gross weight and first night to the track. Sorry to hear of Jeff's misfortune. Guess it is good the Z06 stayed in the garage or else Jeff would have spun a bearing and thrown a rod trying to reel me in and that would have been big bucks to fix. Let us know soon if you guys are going to BG late next month. The pirahna will be good to go by then.....I'd like to see Tooky make the meet too :tup:

Sure is easy to say that sitting on the couch at home.

The truth of the matter is you still have no idea how fast your car is. You have some similar cars to compare to, but you don't really know. We do know that Jeffs truck ran a mid 11 last night, and Wills truck ran a high 10/low 11 pass last night. Yours sat in the garage. Until you race them heads up on the same night, you have nothing but speculation to "brag" about.

Good thing you didn't show up, might've trashed a syncho in the trans trying to shift fast enough to catch up to your paint after either of them ripped a 1.6 60' and you were left sitting in a cloud of smoke at the starting line.......See it really is easy to speculate from the couch!!

Couple things I doubt.

1) I doubt that any sensible person would drive a $70,000+ car to a track 100+ miles away without proper tags and registration to appease a few skeptics. Remember, I didn't come on here looking for anyone with my car......a few on here came gunning for me because they know a threat when they learn of one and plain and simple, the 06-09 Z06 is a threat to many, many trucks on this forum! Jimmy is local (3 miles away) and can come get some anytime he wants!!!!! You all look up to him and attest his truck is a mid 11 sec truck, right? Oh wait, it is a newer Z06 so now we need 2 turbos, meth, upgraded tranny and a hope / prayer to beat it.....enter Jeff Scott, the leader of the northern fontier (and my friend) who is running modified times that 90% of these cars already run stock - yes, 2WD and STOCK!!

2) I doubt that you are any swifter than the rest of the smack talkers around here (and you might not even be in the 12's). Cookie crunchers like you abound in every crack and crevice so here's an offer for YOU......rather than jump on someone else's achievment, why not limp your truck (registered to you) to the track on September 27th so you and I can run for $500! My car will be completely legal then. The whole forum is my witness. Oh, one more thing; I only deal with cash so don't bring your check book (or someone else's checkbook since you seem to like to fuel the fire with everyone else's goods). There; end of speculation, which you have labelled on me!!!! That gives you 2 weeks to install a bigger turbo, throw on bigger injectors, change your street tread to slicks......whatever you feel you need to do, to include permitting Jeff Scott to tune it right for you. So are you game or am I gonna hear crickets now :).

I am still confused about this registration "prob" you have. I'll admit, I didnt go back through all this to see if you mentioned, but do they not do Temporary Tags where you live?

#22 post will help and I was willing to bring it IF the title came in by this past Thursday. Anyway, the readers digest version for you;

I bought the car in Indinaoplis. In Indiana, you can take the tags off your trade-in and place them on your new car with a grace period of 30 days (sufficient time to swap everything at the DMV). When I drove back into TN, my friend who is a state trooper, advised me that might be the case there but NOT here thus I am no better off than driving the car without a tag at all right now and the penalty if caught....car is towed and impounded). The lien company the owner was using estimated 2-3 weeks for the title to get to me. It is just now entering the 3rd week. To get a 20 day temp tag now, I would have to drive the car back into Indianapolis for it to be issued. That is not worth 622 miles and the added cost to me just so I can go to a 1/4 mile track and race some 17 year old brick. I've got a modified one in my garage now and have owned 5 others in 3 years. They do one thing good some of the time and that is to go straight for 1/4 mile. Big whoopty do!!

Is that because you are looking for a driver with actual 11 second experience to pilot your car for you? :lol: :cool: Sounds tempting, I'm sure those 427's are fun to drive whether they run 11s or 12s.. :tup:

Correction - I don't think Jimmy has ever run 11 seconds, but he did run a 7.6 1/8 mile which, in theory, is like a high 11 second time.

No need for that. I ran my tweaked R1 to the tune of 9.89 in the 1/4 and my 70 Chevelle SS LS5 churned out a 11.62 so I think I can handle the Z06 down the track with ease. I would not object to you co-piloting the car down the track though :tup:

:dunno: the only time I witnessed his Ty go through the 1/4 was last year at BG and it turned out low 13's. In his defense, the temps weren't turbo friendly though. I just have never come across anyone who is so finatical about their vehicle and I would hate to see him go KABOOM a few feet off the line giving it all she's got to put me away. I'd personally feel better about someone else blowing their truck up trying......like you :). LOL

1) He has times, you have speculation. You can talk till you are blue in the face, until you run the car you have no idea how fast it is at the track. I don't think Wills truck has current tags on it. He still made it to the track. Although I suppose you have nothing to gain. If you run slower than them, then you can easily say that they have way more time and effort invested, and more practice, and a plethora of other such excuses. Then, if you win, of course you have your stock 2wd car bragging rights to fall back on. There really is no upside to you showing up, I understand why you stayed at home.

2) My truck runs high 18's. I'll gladly run you in a bracket race format for some cash. I won't be adding a turbo, slicks, or larger injectors to the truck, and Jeff doesn't even have the software to tune my truck. I'm rather happy with my slowest on the board pickup. I have no delusions of grandeur, but do have problems with those that do. If this is going to go like anything else I've read or seen, all I have to do to win is show up. Seems to me thats your biggest hurdle at this point.

Also, I take a great deal of umbrage to the "riding the coat tails of others achievements" comment. Not sure exactly why you thought that was appropriate, or even accurate. But it's showing some of your insecurities about what you can or can't do with your store bought racecar. I tend to not tie my self worth with my timeslips, I just backup those I call friends.

:popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: Mr. Advocate, lighten up. The more you respond, the more I realize just how little you do understand. Bracket racing is for sissy's that can't afford to go fast but wanna play in the game, plain and simple. Same concept applies to water boys on the football team.....they can't play the game but they insist on being on the team anyway (if you carry ice for Jeff's IC after his runs, I apologize......but my example was to promote a point and not to humiliate you). Work as hard on the job as you do around here causing strife and maybe you can buy a semi-quick vehicle and earn some respect. When you have more substantial input to offer to this thread, I will respond again to you. In the meantime, I will thoroughly enjoy my pristine, extremely quick and agile store bought paid for racecar. :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2:

P.S. - They (Jeff and Will) don't need your back-up.....they do quite well defending themselves with tact :tup:

Hey, Mr. Advocate. When and if you ever do acquire a low 12 second car, let me know and I will spank you with my entry level weapon for low risk threats;

.....low 11 second cars, get a taste of this;

.....and if you make it to the low 10's, I have this to play around on;

.....and all the above do a whole lot more than just go fast in a straight line for a short distance :tup: :tup:

Thanks T Jay. I've dumped some serious cash into that Saleen and am contemplating procharging on it this winter to keep Jimmy amused.

Re: Bowling Green, KY - Beech Bend Dragstrip

My power goes out yesterday (still out) and look at all I miss here.

On a good note, I did pull ty off the trailer yesterday and back in the garage. Luckily all the tree limbs in my yard that feel, NONE of them hit any cars.

Ty had full oil pressure and sounded fine. So I suspect whatever damage is very light inside. Once power is restored I will start to pull it and find out. Either way it is all part of racing and explains why the truck had slowed down on me.

Back to your regular scheduled program..........

Josh, on a serious note (if you can ever make it down this way), I'd like for you to tickle my Syclone and see if you can get it in the 10's. It has been in the mid 11's before a cam and bigger turbo/injectors were added but it needs some fine tuning (running a bit rich) and it loads up under boost. It "might" be crappy fuel so I am running out what is in it and will mix 110 with premium and see if there is a difference but I am fairly certain the chip is gonna have to be tweaked a bit to alter the fuel table and injector band width settings. I have the cam specs and other data required.....just need an experienced tuner like you or Jeff to embed it properly.

You know what, you're right. I only show up because I want to play but can't afford it. God I wish I had some money so I could talk down to everyone else, and act like an ass. Man that would be great!

:stupid: I agree, you might know what others have run, but until you have done it yourself, it worthless bench racing especially with a high powered RWD Manual Transmission. I call the track the land of disppointment for the non season racer vheicle. I know of so many people that read the internet and think their car is going to run x number only be off by 0.5 to 1.5 seconds. Hell I even know street racers, who raced regularly on the street (ie lot of practice), be off by a 1/2 second on what they thought they would run.

The spread of best times for Stock C6 Z06 time is atleast 1 sec and probably is more because most people don't post embarassingly slow times.
