Re: Carbon fiber hoods by CfxBodywerks - Again!!!

I drove to the store tonight without the hood on and I could tell the truck is starting to make a diffrence in all the weight reduction I have been doing. I wonder if this same person could make me a CF tailgate as well.I know I saw one for sale awhile back on this board.
420 could you PM me the guys conyact info?

Thanks.

You might want to consider shaving off more weight off the front to achieve better weight balance and better handling.

Like what?
I already did the ABS deleate, vortec heads, smaller starter.15lb battery. Aluminum drums are done.
The only thing left is the coil suspension,A/C,ATA,front bumper support...the hood will really make a diffrence.

What I mean't specifically, was improving the weight balance. You are already working in the right direction, removing so much weight off the front end. Braille auto is coming out with a 7 lb. racing battery, but they have an 11 lb version now. aluminum brake calipers, 2 piece rotor w/ aluminum hat, fenderwell tar weather guards.electric fans, custom hollow sway bar, aluminum water pump and aluminum water pump pulley.

Fenderwell tar weather guards? What are they? Have any links? Sounds like some sort of lightweight fenderwell replacement?

No, I mean delete them, as long as you are not driving in foul weather all the time. Mine were always in the way when changing plugs, constantly ripped, and kept underhood temps up.

Well, the hood showed up last Thursday, but the freight company DESTROYED it. The crate was all broken, and the hood was badly torn up. We had to refuse it... Luckily the guy who made it insured it with the freight company, so he's not out any money. He says a week to a week and a half, and I should have another one. I'll keep you guys posted ;)

Maybe we should include the s-10 boards on this to keep down costs I know of a few ppl with 1st gens that are always looking for a lighter alternative.

IMHO I love the reversed cowl induction; like the evo. I think that the standard style cowl just hurts the truck by creating a vac between the windshield and the hood, so really it doesnt take any heat away, or at least not as effective as the reverse cowl.

I would love one like this, and anyone with a front mount would benefit the greatest this could also help engine and trans oil temps.

I like the first on but i would like it more with out the front most scoop just the side one, and that goes for the second one also i like the outside vents not the center one.

Agree with Sy#2716, #2 w/o the center vent. If you make the GP happen, count me in on one :).

Guys,

This thread is all over the place. It has not been determined what CF hood style is the most wanted by those who've posted in this thread.

I'd recommend that this thread be locked and started over again using a publicly viewable poll with all hood options listed. Interested parties who've posted in this thread could be notified and could then vote for the hood style they would want to see made in CF. The style w/ the most votes wins.
