Checking my truck out or casing it?

Probably nothing, but he didn't waste anytime looking closer as soon as moms turned. Make the company owner aware as if this was my truck and I was there, I would of tore him a new one......

Re: Checking my truck out or casing it?

It may be a little more being read into it than is actually there. If I was in your shoes, I'd keep the tape in case something happens. Lets face it there is better ways to go to jail than stealing a SY/TY. One thing about the guy that makes me feel better is that he is working a day job, there is easier ways to get some $$ than how he is going about it. I don't really see what going to his work is going to accomplish, it may get back to him, and he may try to damage your stuff out of anger.:(:( The guy does look a little strange, but I don't know if that's grounds to worry. He may have remembered the trucks from back in the day and been elated to see one again, he may have thought it was an old extreme, then again he may be up to no good. Whatever the case may be just go on and leave the camera rolling. BTW is there anywhere you could store the truck till it blows over? You have a nice ride, I see no reason to worry, but no reason not to be watchful and cautious. Hope everything goes alright.

The guy in the blue is a "hopper"

He'll hop in your car and steal whatever he can.He checked the door 2X to see if he could get in.He then looked through the window to see if he needed to break that window, because crack ain't free.

I'd take the vid to that company's top dog and be all like WTF man?

He was just looking for valuables in your raggedy old S10 with ground effects.

Belee dat.

Re: Checking my truck out or casing it?

the guy didn't do anything wrong in the video to go to his boss and say something... if you're his boss what are you gonna do? There's nothing you can call him on... "hey uhh if customers have a cool truck don't look in the window"?? All he's gonna do is say "si, yes boss" and that's the end of it. You can't fire him for it.

if you think he's a creeper, keep the camera on it, don't leave anything in it, and yank the fuse.

I doubt anything will come of it though... guaranteed the guy has no idea what it is and won't steal it because he can't put chrome fender flares on it and it's too low to put running boards on it. A chevy bow tie 3rd brake light would look pretty sweet on the roof though... maybe one of those red LED strips to put between the tailgate and the bumper. Or some Audi knock off LEDs to put in the grill or on top of the bumper with drywall screws.

not stereotyping just calling out what I've seen around town.

You need to think like a crackhead when you watch the vid.Dude tries to open the door 2x (flips the door handle twice, real quick)then looks inside to see if it's worth breaking into.

Open your mind.

What the f*ck!? I was trying to stay quiet about all the BS being said in this thread, but this is the last straw! You can't use drywall screws to install leds! Seriously, that's just asking for rust later!

Re: Checking my truck out or casing it?

the guy looks over his shoulder, waits til mom turns around, he just looks guilty from that. When I check out someones car I don't look guilty of something. My mom has been buying from this guy for over 30 years, I'd hate to screw up her relationship with him....hell I got 15 foot crapes for 180 each! There isn't enough here to say conclusively either way though I think he's guilty, but his employer really couldn't do much from the video and I think it'd just still up more problems. I've got the clip saved and have been keeping the sy at a friends house nearby. I'll wait a few weeks or so and bring it back. I'll probably take the wifes spot out front as it is outside our bedroom window.

I couldn't make that up if I tried... I might still have the pic of it on my old phone, i'll have to look. The lights looked like these...
5led_white__74163.1346966981.1280.1280.jpg

and drywall screws were used to screw the lights into the plastic front bumper cover of an early 2000's corolla... but on the road at night I'd swear it was an Audi! :rotf:

I usually look in the window to see if I can read the mileage when I see a SyTy. And I try not to do it when the owner's looking so he doesn't think I'm trying to steal it.

Are you by any chance a tree delivery man working in Virginia?

I think you are good. Probably just admiring. You honestly can't see him trying the door, he may have but I don't think that was what was going on. Maybe he was trying to keep his belt buckle off of the paint? I would always take precautions with your truck but people are odd when they don't think they are being watched and he may have just thought it was a cool S10?

Keep the footage though in case anything happens but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

He does look pretty suspicious in the way he lunges to look in it when your mom turns away. You can never be too safe, if you could park it somewhere that's not on the street then that would be much better, but I know that isn't an option in many big cities.

I don't own one. I would have done the same thing he did. It's only natural to wait until someone isn't looking before you start oogling over their vehicle, peering in to check out the interior and drooling on it the entire time.

Yes, I would wait until the owner/owner's/whoever walked away before I peered inside. He was obviously interested and checking it out while she was standing there. So she had to notice his curiosity. So he's already identified as a potential suspect if something were to happen.

I wouldn't. I'd straight up talk to the owner about it. With the hatred I have for thieves, I'm not going to give anyone any reason to suspect me as one.

Re: Checking my truck out or casing it?

I vote he was just sneaking a peak because he had wood for it. Too afraid to do it w your mom watching. His eyeline didn't stay towards your moms direction when he was done peeping so I doubt he had any bad intentions. Of course I'm just guessing and if the Sy is gone you'll have tape of a suspect ;)
