I have been toying with the idea of selling My T-bird SC and getting a Lightning (sorry guys.) But this weekend while visiting my parents we drove by a truck I thougth looked like a Syclone.
I started thinking I might like that better than the Lightning so we went back to look at it. It seemed a bit odd. There is a for sale sign in the window, but it has no phone number, or price. It was parked in front of a body shop/ junkyard that wasn't open, so I am planning on calling them Monday to find out more.
It did NOT say Syclone anywhere on the body (doors or tailgate) Aren't they all supposed to have that? Or is the Syclone graphic just a sticker that might peel off? It did have a rather faded sticker on the drivers door piece that looked like it said "Zoo York" The drivers door looked like it had been replaced, it was orange peeled while the rest of the paint was fairly smooth. It had the right wheels, and it had ground effects, but they didn't seem to fit right, the rear drivers side part was sort of hanging off. Might these be aftermarket ground effects someone might have used to fix a damaged truck? The body seemed fairly straight, and rustfree, the interior was pretty clean, but had an aftermarket radio and some sort of amplifier mounted between the seats. I couldn't see much underneath. the frame had some surface rust, but nothing unusual.
I looked inside, it did have Syclone on the seats, and the boost gage in the cluster. About 55k miles on it. One thing that sort of worried me is that the VIN tag was kind of scratched up. Does that happen if windshields are replaced on these? Also I know thet special rivets are usually used to hold VIN tags on, to try to stop chop shops. These rivets were the sort of star shaped ones, but they were silver colored. I compared them with the ones on My T-bird, and My dads 2002 ZR2, which were both smaller and black in color, but still star shaped. Can one of you check yours and let me know if they used silver ones on Syclones? Since it has had obvious body work, I am worried about someone trying to swap VINs on it to pass off a S-15 as a totalled Syclone. BTW the last 4 of the vin are 2004, Anyone familiar with thir particular truck in Michigan?
Anyone want to guess on a fair price from this description? Probably tough to guess since I wasn't able to get inside, look underneath, or hear it run. Since it is obviously not on original condition I was kind of hoping I might pick it up sort of cheap as a semi-restoration project.
