Check that the brake light switch is adjusted correctly.
If these are OK, check the purple wire at the trans. Should be 12V with key on, brake off. OV with brake applied.
If OK, plug trans in. Use a drywall screw to pierce insulation on tan/blk wire, and short to ground, key on. Solenoid should 'click'. If OK, try grounding tan/blk @ ALDL. Should have same result.
Some ideas....

Tooky said:Rexxenexx, do you have a high stall converter? Is it an original SyTy 1LHM-3LHM core & valve body?
I have a 1985 NON-syty 700R4 with a 2700 RPM converter and my TC makes an awful vibration but I pinpointed the problem. The built trans was shifting too early, so I would get into 4th gear (and lockup) at only 38 MPH, at very low RPM (1000-1500 RPM) which is unusually low. I had to recalibrate my valve body and governor for higher shift RPM (back similar to stock shift points) and it solved the issue.
SO how did you resolve this........
