What do you think the Marlboro Syclones will go for? Also I am really curious to know what Shaun Palmer's Syclone truck will sell for! The PPG Syclone Pace truck? You can watch the bidding at:

It might have been AOL Autos, this AD in Clearwater I remember a year ago (Palm Harbor, Fl?) as I was living close by at the time.

EDIT: It was AOL Autos - $71,900, 3000 miles.

A lot happens in a year. The truck you are referring to is sitting next to the other 2 Marlboros and PPG in the pics above.

I got to relax in it a bit before it was sold:

I wish SyTys had a number on the dash like GNXs.

For the most part our VIN are accepted as the build number. Regualr Syclone VIN go from 1-2995. 92 Ty 1-2497, 93 Ty 1-2200. They weren't exactly built in that order (Ty's were built more out of order than Syclones)

GNX's and GN were built on Regal serial numbers, so for collecting it was necessary to include plaque. I presonally could care less if my Scylone had a plaque saying it was 2661/2995

GM intended to make 3000 Syclone's the first year and then unlimited production after that. GM wanted to sell as many as they could. The Syclone had too many unique parts to be profitable for a small production run.

2nd year was scheduled for more production than 91
Interesting. The NY Times article I mentioned above was written by Marshan Sohuon on 12/22/91. The GM maketing exec quoted in the article was Tim Smith. Based on what I have read here on this forum I am more inclined to believe guys from this forum. Lots of insider knowlege here.

Good info. GM wasn't making enough profit ($10,000+) to keep it going at least another year? Anyone know why production stopped? Was it like the Grand National/GNX where GM didn't want the fastest production car be anything but a Corvette?

EDIT: Since I wrote this I read Dale's thread about working at PAS and I got up to speed on some of Syclone's history.

I just looked at the site. That is confusing. It says bidding starts on the 2nd, but the auction date is the 7th. I assume it means you can pre-bid on items and then the real deal goes down on the 7th. :dunno:

My guess is that the ONLY one within a long shot of selling is Palmers old Sy. Time will tell and there isn't much of that left ;).

The regular Sys/Tys have no reserve... will be interesting to see what happens with those.
Particularly the low miles ones (200-ish miles....mmmm)

Re: Customrestore selling all his stuff?

The auction is cancelled/ postponed.
The auction house said that several of the the vechicals were signed over to them when agreeing to do the auction so those vechicals will be sold regardless. It just might not be at this auction now.
