Debating on selling my Typhoon

Re: Debating on selling my Typhoon

Well I have all my stuff from Moates to switch it to code59 and then I'll probably look into T-Bone's suggestion of contacting Jeff Scott.

To answer some of the questions posed I have verified the timing multiple times and checked grounds, connectors, wiring and ignition.

Someone posed the idea of the Ultimate chip not being configured for my truck and that sounds like a reasonable idea. I have no way to verify what the chip in it is set up for but its coming out. Maybe that will start me on the road to success.

Thanks for all the support though I think I had all but talked myself into a for sale sign and that would have sucked when the next guy spent a day getting it worked out and enjoyed all of my time and effort. So the joys continue. I'll keep you guys posted on what comes of it all. Worst thing that can happen is it sits for a bit.
One other thing you might want to condider: When my truck was more stock, I had good luck running a Code58 tune that I downloaded off of Josh Straub's web site, powertuneplus.com. If you have basically a stock build, which it appears you do, you can install one of his tunes in your truck using the Moates stuff you have now. Just keep an eye on knock, and I assume you have a WB o2 sensor to keep and eye on that also.

You will be very satisfied. He is a great, down to earth guy with incredible knowledge of these trucks. I am sure there are set-ups that the best tuner in the world would have issues with but nothing I have had Jeff address has been a challenge for him yet. His reputation on this forum and beyond speaks volumes.

Wish you the best in your endeavor with the Ty. Once the bugs are worked out, you will be glad you held out with patience

Re: Debating on selling my Typhoon

Like the title says I am debating on selling my crap box. It has just become a headache. I have had it for a year now about put about 6k in it on top of the 9800 I paid to buy the POS and a line has to be drawn somewhere. I can't seem to get it running right and after putting a new engine in it I feel like I have come to the end of my rope. I have wanted a Typhoon since I was a kid but damn I haven't had one enjoyable drive in it.

I hate to say it but I kinda feel defeated with this thing. I am to the point of throwing it on ebay and cutting my losses cause my love for it is pretty much dying.

This. I am in the same boat. Add on top the cluster****ery of shit that still needs to be addressed (tune, various issues, new front end, etc) now I am getting 20psi oil pressure at idle. F*ck it. About to throw in the towel. Will never get a decent amount selling it whole, so the options are either going to be to push this bitch to one side of the garage, put it on jackstands and let it sit and just stare at it or say screw it and start stripping it down and selling parts. Damn thing is worth more in pieces than it is whole. It's not worth the headache anymore. Should have just let insurance total it out when it was stolen.

Do you have a cat. convertor? Or aftermarket boost control? Possible you are overboosting...Jim
