Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

You've got a CrPS that came on the 12v 3.0Ls (pic) and one that came on the 24v 3.0Ls (pic). I'm assuming the 12v one is the one we want?

The 74 is the beast. The SHO ones were optical, methinks.

Hood,
How much does that sensor cost?

$30 - one caveat though.....they're becoming a slow mover from the factory. So a GP might be a good idea as this would be a factory (SMP) order most likely.

With a large order of these, I could probably get in the $25ish range.

Few more angles of the 74 - http://smpcorp.com/web_app/catalog/smp_bgbulk.aspx

Enter PC74 to view.

I'll get one of these in my hand tomorrow. What all needs to be done harness-wise?

Mating connnector for this sensor... that'd be the only challenging one. Working on the necessary Metri-pack for the others.

I'm hoping the keying is standard in all the cavities. That appears to be the case, won't know until we plug it all in.

I've got access to tons of pigtails. Lemme see what I can find.

this one has a bar on the bottom of it....the sensor doesn't have provisions to accept that

That looks funny to me, dunno why. I don't remember a groove for the key on the back.

Might be right, but my spider-sense isn't liking it.

Yeah, scratch that. I got ahead of myself there.

Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

I'll get in the sensor and Dorman harness and see if they fit. I'm more concerned that they have the wrong stock photo pictured than I am that they have the wrong part, ultimately.

Dorman's own site lists the part pictured as a coil repair harness and the part number as a CPS and CrPS repair kit. Could just be the wrong pic (esp. since Rock uses all the manufacturer suppleid pics).

Re: Distributerless Ignition possiblity.. (working on it)

www.casperselectronics.com makes alot of GM harness pig-tails and can make a harness that's all setup for this. I'm sure (John) the owner could do it very resonable and in small quantities.

Just a contact I've had for some time and a great guy to deal with in general. He's great with advice and tech support as well.
I didn't know you've been working on this for some time Dig... I just hate setting my gap's so far down and still having blow-out problems. It's just not right!!!
Thanks for all the ideas and keeping the ball rolling! This will be worth all the effort in the end fella's!

the dorman isn't the right part though, judging by the picture on rockauto:

Yeah, I think it is the same connector you found... just looks different from another angle.
