Re: Do these spark plugs look ok?
I'll throw my $.02 in here.
I'll agree with Tooky on his opinion that they do not look bad. Have to remember a few things. First, I am looking at an internet photo. Although a very good photo, it's not the same as if I was there with my mag. scope.
Today's unleaded fuels do not leave allot of color like the leaded fuels of yesterday (The #1 plug with leaded fuel would be considered near perfect. Might be looking for a slight bit more of a rusty brown). I certaintly would not consider #1 to be lean.
Our intake manifolds do not flow 100% even to all cylinders so to expect all the plugs to have the exact same coloring would be wishful thinking.
Also have to consider cylinder cooling and the order in which they receive coolant from the pump. Again, due to different cylinder temps, plug color will not be the same (ever wonder why some small block chevy guys run a coolant line to the #7 cylinder when they are searching for the most effective efficiency on a per cylinder basis or why some big block guys stagger carb jetting).
Thermostat temp will effect plug color as well as the tune to go with the stat. Lower coolant temps will leave more color.
Other things will effect plug color as well. For now I would not be too concerned with your plug coloring. See what your data comes back at when you get it all hooked up and go from thee.
