Re: DOC HOOVER in Steele, MO 3/5/06

Although I personally would like to side with the V6 guys, it all comes down to puttin the power to the ground. Making the power is easy(just takes money, right Ed lol ), getting it down the track is a different story.

I would like to see all true syclones/typhoons remain AWD/V6, however anything that can get down the track fast at our weight and aerodynamics is impressive to me..

Eventhough i have the utmost respect for the foreign guys, in order for them to compare apples to apples they need to come to the US and compete on legitamate NHRA sanctioned tracks, not airport runways. You watch trucks like the Hoover's and Mike Bamfords trucks short track and there is no comparison.. For the foreign guys to run the same times, they would have to be making much more MPH,.

Although I can't compensate the incredible costs of shipping cars overseas, i have offered to help in a cash purse to the Pro Class granted more then one or 2 trucks show up.

I guess it all boils down to whether you care about what people think, or who has the fastest time and gets over that white line first...

I THOUGHT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT RACE CARS...

no we arent.

this is about v6 syclones with awd and v6 typhoons with awd going fast.

I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL ABOUT GOING FAST

otherwise since tom ferrick has his 9.50 2wd typhoon collecting dust in favor of running his 2wd ext cab single 104 turbo s10 25.x certified running low 7's then this whole bbs would be a mute point.

GOOD FOR TOM. AND MY BROTHER IS BIGGER AND TOUGHER THAN YOUR BROTHER SO THERE... AND I'M GONNA TAKE MY FOOTBALL AND GO HOME IF WE CAN'T PLAY THE WAY I WANT...

fwiw i havent pulled the chute yet, and harry will no doubt appreciate being referred to as a "Professional Tuner".

NO CHUTE CAUSE YOU CAN'T GET IT TO GO FAST ENOUGH TO NEED IT. :rotf: REMEMBER ED... YOU PULL THE CHUTE AT THE ''END'' OF THE RACE NOT THE BEGINNING... :rotf:

imho harry could run with the big boys on the nhra circuit but i think for now he prefers to keep his day job which is totally unrelated to racing.

YOU GOT ME CONFUSED. ONE SENTENCE YOU KIND OF SAY HARRY 'ISN'T' A PROFESSIONAL TUNER AND THE NEXT YOU SAY HE'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE NHRA... SO TELL THE TRUTH TO THIS REPORTER ED... IS HARRY YOUR SECRET WEAPON? DO YOU PAY HIM BIG MONEY TO MAKE THAT THING RUN OR DO YOU TUNE IT ALL YOURSELF? COME ON ED... COME C LEAN. ISN'T IT TRUE THAT WITHOUT HARRY YOU COULDN'T EVEN GET THE SPARK PLUGS TO GLOW ON YOUR OWN :rotf:

now sombody push that pos v8 typhoon out of the way so we can get on with some real v6 awd racing here. lol :)

THAT ONE HURT. I'LL GET EVEN. ONE CONSOLATION IS THAT ON THE BACK OF THE TY IN BIG LETTERS IS ''HELPED BUILT BY LES YOUNG'' I HOPE THE LETTERS ARE BIG ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN SEE THEM AT THE END OF THE TRACK. ..

OOPS... I FORGOT. THIS IS ONLY FOR SYTY'S NOT FOR RACE CARS SO YOU WON'T WANT TO LINE UP. BESIDES, YOURS CAN'T SWIM GOOD ENOUGH TO GET TO EUROPE TO RACE.

price for ed's motor getting built... 122,000,000 dollars

watching ed pull the parachute to try to keep his sy from sinking when the air goes out of his raft while he paddles trying to get to europe for the big race cause he spent so much on his motor and master card shut him off and he can't afford a boat ticket...

PRICELESS...

Re: DOC HOOVER in Steele, MO 3/5/06

we keep talkin about bringin the ty over mike but the big problem is not so much the money but the time. it is rather expensive (1500 bucks each way by boat i think) but it takes over a month last we checked each way. the season is so short over there that it would mean they'd basically lose the ty for the whole season just to come to the US for a little while. add the transportation charges, airline tickets for everyone there to come, and then expenses while there here for us to run around and it turns into a lot of money. i am hopeful that the AWD corvette will come live here for a while in a year or so. it's actually much faster than the ty so that would be fun.

that's generous of you to put the money up, but the big part for my friends is all the time you lose the vehicle. you're right though. it's just all playin around on the board. unless you put things nose to nose at the lights nobody really knows. and it would probably change positions once in a while. the tracks in europe don't have the traction at the line so you just can't launch them the same. so you launch easier and nail it 50 feet out. but it will be fun to see roberts sy and the ty line up and that is definitely gonna happen. but i'm pretty sure both of them are gonna be chasing the vette in fastest street class. it's just a monster and we haven't even started making much power with it. already gone about 9 flat. i'm wonderin if it'll end up going 7's or low 8's. i hear it's so fast they're a little scared of it. i would be too. that's too fast for this old man... well... i take that back. i'm looking forward to driving it when it comes visit... ;) it's really just about a sport and having fun.

how's your v6 ty doin? i haven't read much about it lately. did you ever get it runnin good. i know you were having trouble finding the time to work on it. kind of like if you want to water ski you'd better be in the business of sellin snow ski's instead of ski boats cause if you sell ski boats you don't have time to go water ski yourself :(

exactly. We finally got the engine side of it all sorted out. Made 1204hp @ 7400 and 24psi. Torque was over 900 for the majority of the pull. It's got plenty more in it, and begs for larger turbos but it'll do for now.. I've driven it around on the street here and there, but havent had a chance to get to the track. I still have a few safety issues to sort out first, and find time. So for now, i just get to sit back and watch everyone else spend money breaking parts :)

Also sounds like it spins all of first gear, must still be a 700. probably not for long with that kind of power ;)

he's got a bada$$ truck, runnin on radial tires. imho he's got as much potential to run fast as any of us.....

Thanks for the props. I have been changing a few things on the sy the last couple of months. I should be rolling again in the next month or so. I had to put on a bigger turbo because of you guys:) I don't think I'll have the fastest syty, I just don't have the time to hit the track alot, but I'll be real close. I am going to try and run a number in late Sept. I will however be wreaking havoc on the streets of the D on a regular basis once I am rolling.

Yes Robert loves to race, and its allways race to bee the fastest, still friendly :D

And he is going down to Belgium to compet in the AWD class and thats an race class, no sy/ty class, so fastest is KING in AWD :D (in this class they will meet Audi´s,Subaru´s,Fiat punto and all kind of vehicles with AWD thats real race cars and some streetcars)

He would bee real glad to take a "dance" with the Ty and as you said he will cut a good light and pull away ;D and yes redlight here is the same as in US, out of the game. IF you dont refere to the Dutch "redlight" thats another story hahahahaha

Yes the traction there is a problem (Belgium), its a race on comon road.. but here in sweden they been good learning how to prepare the trac so on regular race´s the traction is usually good

So the Polish Ty could go to Sweden and set the times at full launch boost and maybee have a shot at Robert..Not so far betwine our countrys, just Germany and the baltic sea..

As for getting the Sy or Ty o US, Robert have the same time "problem" besides the money factor, BUT its been a dream for years for Robert to RACE Hoover, Badnew,Ed on US turf just to set the same conditions/traction/air/humidity/trac lenght/computer equipment and timeslips discutions to an end.. and YES to beat his Sy friends on their own "playground" :D

And give the rest of us a SY/TY race of the decade :D I will bee there IF it happends, woud´nt miss that for the ......

I think this discution did krasch alithle just because the fastest Sy/Ty "title" been hunt by Robert,Hoovers,Badnews and Ed is based on the simple, yet unwrithen rules,, full weigth car, V6 engine NO nos,no fibreglass, as close to "stock" equipment ac, stereo ..... under this circumstances go down to low 9 or High 8 is what that is about..

Just build a racecar and go fast, then take what you have/can afford and go wild.. big cube monster engines, turbo combined with Nos and even a roots its ok, go fiberglass.. whatever..
Would even be fun to have a Sy/Ty funnycar running low 5 thats fast, but still wont get the SY record that "The Bunch" is after..

Thats my 2 cents about this

Best regards Anders.
