Dyno tuning the truck!

Going to have my truck dyno'd and tuned tomorrow since I'm running 2WD right now. That makes it a lot easier to find a shop that will do it. They are gonna dyno and datalog it at the same time. Probably have them up the fuel psi while its there and run it again.

Wonder what my #'s will be?......Guesses?

Blood Enterprises doing it? Found out a couple weeks ago there's a shop here in Bremerton w/ a AWD dyno. 3 pulls, $150. Looking forward to some numbers, sure is a fun ride in your truck.

Re: Dyno tuning the truck!

Maybe someone can answer this for me. I have an adjustable fuel regulator. Can I up my fuel psi without having to re-tune the truck?

The lead mech at Blood told me that if I mess with the fuel pressure, I have to do several other things to compensate for it. Advice?

It's just a six

Re: Dyno tuning the truck!

KB catalog says to increase base fuel pressure to get rid of a hesitation & to deliver more fuel all across the board.

So yes it will help ,but it will be richer @ higher RPMs also.

When I used to run my Pitbull street chip I ran up to 18-19 psi & IIRC, I set the base FP to 52-55 psi range, vacuum line disconnected.

So , in general, my stock engine ,stock turbo ran great w/higher FP everywhere.
I believe mileage suffered just a bit,but the performance increase outweighed the less MPG. Was not my everyday driver either.

The Pittbull chip is a safe rich chip in general, so turn up the PSI,mainly fuel pressure that is.;)

Goodluck!

Re: Dyno tuning the truck!

Great to hear six. I think my base fp right now is 36 and jumps to around the 44-46 area. I am getting about 8kr @ 16#'s of boost. Upping the fuel should get rid of some of that, I hope.
What does disconnecting the vacuum line do?

Fix your KR before you goto the Dyno. Turn down your boost until it stops, knocking a couple degrees on shift is all that I would acceptable. Ideally 0.

It may compensate. Your truck has 2 Block Learn cell, idle and of idle. FInd out what that is currently.

If the Long Term BLM is 128 that is the middle and the ECM is not changing the fueling from the stock table. Lower than 128 the truck is running richer than the stock tune and the O2 sensor calling for the ecm to pull fuel. Higher the 128 it running lean and adding fuel.

At WOT the fueling of the truck, if the BLM is 128 or lower it will fuel at the 128 value, if it 129 or higher, it will adjust the fueling. What this means is if your BLM is 129 or higher, and you change the Fuel Pressure the ECM will adjust your fuel trim over time. If your BLM is lower the 128 and you adjust the Fuel Pressure it will not unless you turn down the Fuel pressure such that it drop the BLM above 128.

I suspect the truck will run pig rich on the dyno, and possible knock. Never yet found a dyno that will load our trucks properly.

Good Luck

Thought base fp is 42 on our trucks. There is a difference in dyno tuning and just paying to make pulls at least around here there is, keep AAA on speed dial for when you blow your truck up and you will be good to go. Home that is. Good luck.

Re: Dyno tuning the truck!

I would suggest you get that KR lower first before running your truck on a dyno... these trucks don't take well to detonation and 8* would not be acceptable for me... I'd be shitting my pants if my truck was getting hit on the dyno knowing I had 8* of kr going on but good luck and let us know what happens

Thats pretty much what the mech at Blood said. The ecm would compensate for upping my pressure.

My fuel pressure gauge is on my pillar. Any chance that it loses a couple pounds of accuracy in the line?

I have always thought that my pressure was a little on the low side, but it runs like a top and has never given me any problems. Engine wise at least. Everything else on the other hand..........:(

Funny I Dyno Sy/ty's all the time on our Mustang dyno with no issues.
