OK... So I'm at that point where I've got a few mods into the Ty already (still missing the decent paintjob mod...). So since I frequent eBay a bit, I looked there for a BOV... and there's a metric shit-ton (or 20). Since I know 90% of everything on eBay is conterfeit from China, you can find good copies of almost anything.
So... separating fact from fiction: "What am I getting for 1/10th to 1/4 the price?"
I'm assuming a cheaper metal is used, that the finish on the "machined" surfaces isn't all that hot, and the diaphrams are junk (some would accuse Greddy of the same thing as it shipped form the factory).
Now, I'd love to toss $300 at a BOV, but damn... $300 is almost a new stainless catback, or a used 3" downpipe. Hell, there's a lot of places $300 could go... but if you could spend $30...???
Here's a example of a diaphram from eBay, one from GReddy, and one from a company called NGR (they take eBay ones and make them moar better!).
If you got a $30 one with this diaphram in place (I've heard DSM guys saying this is more commonly the case), and if you spent some time filing the casting flaws... would it be worthwhile? I know I'd love to save money where I could, while still achieving the same level of performance.
Food for thought....
