will one 16in fan be sufficent for cooling ? summer normally gets around 85 deg in indiana but it will only be driven maybe 9mi to work on the interstate or to the lake avg speed of 60mph. othere then that night driving maybe 20mi round trip to pick up my son...i am normally found in the vette in the summer months. i think the fan is 1500cfm puller i bought from advanced auto.

Thanks but the mechanical fan is not for me. It's big ugly takes up too much room parasitc loss and out of date. My truck runs excellent with out it. Night and day diffrence, it's way quieter smoother idle a weird vibration has gone away and overall the motor responds better. Am I saying I gAined .5 sec @ the track, no . But I definatley gained tons of drivability. I am more curious if my fan is powerfully enough, I donth think I'll be persuaded to go back to mechanical

I'm running a single fan for an S-10 radiator. Works fine... Even sitting in traffic on 90+ degree days it won't get above 190 degrees. I with you, elec fans are much quieter and cleaner looking. A dual fan setup would be ideal but a single works fine.

I have the Ford 2 speed fan on mine & lived in Houston w/ac going & never had a problem.

i've been wanting to do the elec. fan set-up also and was curious to know which size/s would be sufficient for our motors. after staring at my set-up, i think the loud, bulky yet, sufficient stock fan is my best bet. i have the front mount ic and oil and trani. cooler plus radiator to pull air through.
i don't think electric fans would do it for me. although, i hear the mark8 fans are pretty strong. i just don't want to do all the swapping and come to find out the fan/s are not strong enough and have to put everything back.

If the fan clutch is working properly it don't drag as much power as one would think from the engine.
Just think if that fan draws 30 amps the alt is now having to work harder to supply that 30 amps. Well that power has to come from somewhere. you got it the engine.
Here is another interesting thing. As you change from one energy sousrce to another there are losses there too. so you may actually may be losing more power with the elec fan set-up.
One more thing the stock electrical system is doing good to supply it/s own equipment much less than say another 30 amp device.
Well the solution to that is a cs144 alt that is larger and consumes more power to turn it. So there is another reduction in power.

the ole supercharger theory, i still think i am ahead. dont care so much about the 7hp difference as the driveability. im teliing ya huge difference night and day. i see what your saying though, the fan only has a 16.6 amp draw at start up then significantly drops while running. head lights dont even dim
