Re: F1 style paddle shift install
Steve is the or one of the guys who came up with the "Shrifter"
http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5519&highlight=shrifter
Nice guy and Ive spoken to him on the phone during the power tour but unfortunately the shrifter wont work with most OEM steering wheels so I didnt pursue the installation of one of their units on my truck after finding that out (I have enough trouble getting my big butt in/out without the steering wheel being closer to me than it already is).
The other reason I didnt use it was that most "foot brake" classes that Ive ever been in at the track wont allow any kind of aftermarket automatic shifting set up...either electrical or pneumatic (aka air shifter) which means Id be stuck in the "pro" catagory. Since a momentary switch placed in a less than obvious location but easily accessable works just as good with the "bump shift" of the TCI control thats the route I went. Even if tech finds the switch it looks like a theft deterant (not that Id say that....

) rather than a nice shiney billet thingy hanging off the back of the steering wheel for everyone to see...as well as protest/complain about when they get beat.
Anyways, its a nice set up and if it wasnt for the above two installation toe stubbings Id have one (hmmmm now that I think about it maybe the dually needs one  )
