FS- Syclone #0725 with 957.8 OG miles in San Diego

FS – 91 Syclone with 957.8 original miles. The truck is 99% stock and mint. It is one of the, or the, lowest mile OEM Syclones in the country. She even has the original tires that still hold 35psi. I am only selling her because my wife and I are going to be having our second child and it is time to sell off the “un” family friendly vehicles. It really saddens me to have to sell my Sy. I have really grown attached in the short time I have owned her.

She runs and drives as new. When I bought her, I had all of the plugs, filters and fluids replaced. I had all the correct items for a stock truck added. For example – NGK UR6 plugs, Taylor 8mm black wires, MSD brass terminal cap and rotor, Mobil 1 10W-30 full synthetic oil and Mobil 1 filter, Dex/Merc III tranny fluid with red bottle LubeGard, WIX tranny filter and fuel filter, Lucas 80W-90 gear oil in front and rear, 50/50 coolant with water wetter and 50/50 coolant in the intercooler. Just get in and drive her anywhere.

The truck has been garaged since day one and has never seen rain. Her paint has been washed, waxed and claybarred regularly to keep her appearance up.

Everything works as it should aside from two items. The ABS light is on. There is power going to the unit but I have not had time to try the fixes I have found on the forum. The brakes are strong even with the ABS light on. And, the A/C blows cool and not cold. It still is the factory R12 and could use a recharge. I did have the system pressure tested and no leaks were found.

The only item to go wrong was the heater core went out. I had that changed and was able to wipe up the small bit of coolant that did leak out. None soaked into the carpet or floor mat one bit.

I have numerous Syclone items that come with the truck. What accompanies the sale is – original window sticker, original GMC brochure, the original Certificate of Authenticity, a newspaper from 91 that has a full page ad for Syclones, a 40x60 Cracker Barrel poster that is still unopened, two baseball card type stickers that have the Syclone description, both set of keys with dealer tags to make new ones, wheel cap key, 92 Syclone carpeted floor mats, aluminum Syclone license plate, numerous magazine articles from 1991, original owners manual and service supp manual and nearly all paperwork from day one.

Lastly, the drivers side rocker panel cladding was replaced with a factory OEM unit by the previous owner. The one that was on her originally had a very small scratch from being shipped. I do have the one that came on the truck bubble wrapped and it has been repaired. The factory rivets that hold the cladding on the bottom are the only pieces missing. It is currently secured with zip ties. The piece is secured very solid. As solid as if the rivets were there. I have not gotten around to locating a new set off rivets so, I will subtract from the price for what the rivets cost upon the sale.

If anybody has any questions, please feel free to ask. You can call me at home at (619) 334-2006 or PM me or email me at krcbeans@gmail.com. My name is Kevin. I encourage any perspective buyer to come by and take a peek if you’re in the neighborhood. I live in east county San Diego. I have $25K into her with shipping and all. I am looking to get $22,000.00 OBO. Thanks for looking.

amazing, I can't believe its under 1k still. GLWS, wish I had extra cash. Looks like this thing was just taken out of a time capsule from 91.

Not to rain on your parade but there are a number of these with considerably lower miles.

Now the questions. Any idea on when it was driven to attain the mileage? Tires flat spotted at all? Was it stored on jackstands ever?

Why was the claybar procedure needed "regularly"?

Why no recharge on the A/C if you had it at a shop for the pressure test?

How does the repair on the cladding piece look? Specifically a color match to original. Any idea why the original was not reinstalled.

How long have you had it and how many miles when you bought it? When is the last time you drove it.

Don't take the questions the wrong way. There is not alot to ask about a truck with less than 1K and for one to spend this type of money, it's all about the specifics.

Thanks in advance for your time.

If I had the cash and place to store it...good price on that Sy, should sell quick. One day I want one under 1000 miles!

You are not raining on my parade one bit. I have not seen a lower mile one but I am sure they are out there.

No flat spots on the tires. Was stored on wheel dollies at one point but not jack stands. I believe the miles were spread over a period of years from new aside from the miles I put on her.

I should have posted detailed regularly. I calybarred it once. The paint is great.

I was considering converting the A/C to 134 so no need to recharge the R12.

The cladding looks perfect as per the pics. It is an OEM piece and matches perfect. The original is fixed and wrapped. I did not install it because the new OEM piece looks as it should.

I bought it with 720 miles about 4 months ago. I drove her yesterday.

Hope this answers your questions.

No objection Dave. If she does not sell fairly soon, I will take your advise and get everything done. I just need to make the time and time is in short supply these days for me :D

Offering "opinion" in a FS ad is against the rules. If you object to my observation, say so, and I'll remove this post immediately.

Just a hint: For this kind of money there can't be anything wrong with it. Nothing. It has to be perfect. Fix the stuff that's wrong with it. Sure, the things wrong aren't a big deal, but they are grounds for negotiation. Spending less than $500 to fix this stuff will result in offers several thousand dollars higher than if you don't.

There are nice, even low-mileage, Syclones around that need work. Your honesty in disclosing its faults is commendable. But you'll get higher offers if you can say "it needs nothing" with the same honesty.

I saw that too. Doesn't look like it was replaced to me

I just wonder what the procedure is when a dealership replaces one? Do they set it to the actual mileage ow what.

Prolly doesn't even matter,just curious.

I believe it is Federal Law to set the ODO back to the exact mileage it was. I really don't think it was actually replaced.

Re: FS- Syclone #0725 with 957.8 OG miles in San Diego

Way back in 93, my GSX elcipse had a problem and it was determined the dash cluster needed to be replaced. I got my car back with all 00000 on the odometer. To account for the the actual mileage, the dealer put on an official looking sticker, was neither from fed or state but instead the mfg, which stated the mileage was actually 17k higher than whatever the odometer read.

I'll give you three guesses, but you'lll on need one, what happened to that sticker the day before I traded the car in at the dealership.

I hear you man. It is obvious that the miles are true and correct on my truck. Anybody that sees her and drives her will vouch for that.

When we replace them these days, we set them to whatever mileage shows on the previous cluster. I can't imagine they did it any differently then.

Given the oil pressure switch was also replaced at the same time, I wonder if the oil pressure guage flipped over.
