I did call my local GMC dealer and gave them my VIN and spoke with the Service Mgr about the process when changing clusters. He informed me that if indeed a cluster is changed that has the ODO attached, they ALWAYS without fail set the ODO back to what it was when the vehicle came in. He also back checked as far back as possible to see if he could find any work performed. He did not find anything. I further tried to get hold of the GMC dealer that supposedly did the work back in 1991 and found out they have closed up shop. I did find their old website but it is no longer valid. I have zero doubt that the miles are true and correct 100%. I am willing to bet that the oil pressure gauge was what was faulty and was replaced if we are to believe what sportmachines.com has written on their website.
When we replace them these days, we set them to whatever mileage shows on the previous cluster. I can't imagine they did it any differently then.
