SyTy,
I need your help, today I was installing a boosta pump and ran into a snag. While I was attempting to locate the fuel pump power wire (the gray one) I believe I accidentally grounded it while the truck was running - which it then stopped. I used my power probe to check to see if I fried the pump - it still works
. I then went to the relay to power the pump add 12 volts to the gray wire - pump primed fine. Then I energized the relay and it clicked, I also purchased another one just to make sure. But with all of the being said the truck will not start. There are four wires on the relay (green and white -which I believe comes from the computer pin A11 - it has about 9 to 11 volts with the ignition on prime mode 2 seconds) , the gray wire (the output to power the fuel pump), black/white (I think is the ground), then the orange wire (I am not sure what this does I saw a wiring diagram that says engine harness).
Do you guys have any ideas or trouble shooting tips?
I thought that perhaps the green and white wire was the issue and perhaps was damaged, but I gave the green/white wire 12 volts and it would action the relay but no power would go to the gray wire and start the fuel pump.
I am lost now and need a little help please. (Note) I have checked visually all the fuses, however I will do this again!
Questions:
1) What would cause the Relay not to work (I know it is functional but how do I test it in the circuit), could I have fried the ground, if so how do I test?
2) What does the orange wire do and is there a way to test it?
3) The green and white wire from the computer gives me a 9 to 11v at start up, is this right or should I expect more for it to throw the relay
4) Why is it when I give 12 volts to the green wire and I hear the relay snap that it doesn't pass the voltage to the green - fuel pump wire, is the relay ground my issue?
5) How is the fuse introduced into the circuit is it on the ground side, if so which one - is it one of the silver fuses under the dash that you can't visually inspect (no sight glass)?
See video below of where I am at, thank for everyone's help!
