I would say so! Especially because they did not produce a regal called "T-Type" in 1987. They were referred to as "Turbo T" because there was also a "T" package on n/a Regals.
Sorry to be such a stickler. It was beaten into me during my Buick days.
Watch out Steve, You also don't want to get too liberal with the term Turbo T, either. If has a Turbo (3.8 Turbo LC2 option code) and it has the 'T' Package and badging (required by all LC2), it doesn't make it a 'Turbo T' unless it has the WE4 Option code.
When the buicks first came out is was pretty common to find a GN with a 350 motor and/or a 400 transmission
I don't think the block is the issue.. GNs have been known to break main caps too.
The big thing, is that if the GN pings, it'll likely take out the head gaskets first. If we ping, it takes out a piston, rod or crank.
10-sec stock blocks are possible, but not in the manner most people approach it.
why is that? why does a GN take out a gasket when is pings but a SyTy will take out a piston???????
why is that? why does a GN take out a gasket when is pings but a SyTy will take out a piston???????
plus for the whole stock blocks doing 10s are we talking full on unopened blocks or forged to the teeth???
i mean hell im sure i can get my LS2 in 9s if i forged it too
I wanted a Typhoon since I was in high school, when they were brand new. I had the chance to buy one, I drove to KS with my brother, bought one, than drove it 1100mi. home. I haven't regretted at all! I don't care if the market goes up or down. I have the truck that used to (and still does) keep me awake at nights dreaming of future days to come. I'd take my Ty over any GN, they never did anything for me. I can respect them, but I have no desire to own one.
then you guys have no taste lol gn is better then a syty in every wayx2, well put. I didn't have to drive so far for my first one, but was close (800 miles) for the second. I've had most of my dream cars, and gotten tired of them. These are no comparison.

GN's have 8 head bolts/studs per head where our 4.3's have 13bolts/studs
Better clamping force on the head... thus saving the gasket. If there's too much cyl pressure/detonation and it can't go out the headgasket.. it go's to the next weakest link..
bearings/rods/crank/pistons.
LOL! I think everyone knows Clint Eastwood's line as Dirty Harry about opinions and a$$holes.......LOL! I notice you have 3 Tys!
The one I'm talking about was an unopened stock motor with a slightly larger then stock turbo, valve springs because the stockers were floating the stock valves and wouldn't go faster then a 11.2. Car went mid 10's. Shit, we just talked about it yesterday at his house and I forgot the details now lol.plus for the whole stock blocks doing 10s are we talking full on unopened blocks or forged to the teeth???

The Buick is a boat. Try to run autocross in one. Every time I get in mine I think it rides like a Caddy in comparison to the Sy or Ty. Car floats at high speeds. Damn fast in a straight line. Awesome burnouts (right Adam?). They built almost 110,000 turbo 3.8's if you count the carb'ed cars, TTA's, Rivieras and LeSabres. Much more development work, more cars out there, more aftermarket sources because there was more potential money in it. No recognition on the streets for any of them except among the really knowledgeable. The Sy and Ty are unknowns. My Buick has the full on grandpa treatment, vinyl roof, all the chrome, hood ornament, factory non metallic slate grey paint. Sneaky fast.
