Ok. I have decided to really consider making the plunge. As I posted in another post, there is a 92 Ty for sale here. What do I really need to look at close on it? This is what I see:
Exterior:
Paint is almost perfect. No scratches, dents or scrapes. One small rock chip on front of hood. Trim is perfect, no scratches, scrapes or cracks. One thing I noticed, is it does not say "Typhoon" anywhere on the outside. All the ones I see on here say it on the side and back. What does this mean? It has the roof rack.
Interior:
Leather is in real good condition. Carpet is all good. Stock stereo. Everthing works. I don't see any defects inside at all.
Mechanical:
This is the second owner. It has 85000 miles on it. Motor and tranny were rebuilt 1 year ago, and have about 3000 miles on them. It had a bad valve, and a scored cyl wall, and he took it to the dealer here. They wanted to put a crate motor in it instead of rebuilding, but he wanted to keep the original motor in the truck. So he had it rebuilt by a very reputable engine builder in the area here. He had the tranny done at the same time "just because", and had a heavy duty shift kit put in, along with a heavy duty torque converter. The engine is still under warranty.
Last year he had a new AC compressor installed, and also new ball joints. There have been no mods besides the tranny upgrade.
The last 4 of the VIN# are 0721.
What should I look for as far as trouble things? I really want this truck, but don't want to get burned. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
