The advantage is not having to have the hood prop rod in the way when you are working on, showing, checking the oil in your truck.

The shipped weight of the kit is 3 lbs.

Is it optical illusion, or are the 2 struts set at significantly different angles?
If the angles are different - why is it necessary / desireable?
Just looks odd on the 'distant' pic.

They are identical. The angles are the same and the compression distance is the same.
