Re: How to install stock arm coil overs

There's a crossmember sandwich going on there... one holds the torsion bar keys and it bolts in, and next to it is a body stiffening one that is riveted in.

I sawzalled out the torsion bar one.

Because this post confused me

Any of you guys have to cut the upper control arm for clearance from the spring? Seems to be I need to cut roughly a inch out of the inside of upper arms.

Ok just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Hopefully will have at least one side in tonight. Thanks

Yea I'm really excited to try them out.. Getting the torsion bars out were a bit more of a pain then expected which is why there not already installed. I do plan on buying the arms in the near future to

lets see some pictures once you get it cut out for those afco's interested to see how much cutting is needed for the 2.5 inch spring instead of the 2.25 on stock arms.

Re: How to install stock arm coil overs

pretty sure i got passenger side done.. after installing the coil the exact way in page 1, i had alot of fitment problems.. The shock was pretty much touching the axle shaft, also spring was hitting the upper bolt head for the control arm.. So i searched threw this thread more and mound someone mounted it the opposite way, so now the adjustment peice if towards the bottem.. Gave me a bit more clearance but still had to trim the uppers more.. almost got drivers side done but callin it a night, gettin to cold

I seriously must be blind beyond belief, does anyone have the part number for the QA1s with the metal inserts? Im looking at ordering everything right now to do front and rear. I could have swore there was a post with the spring cup that you don't need to machine, is this correct? Do I need 9" tall Eibach springs as well so I wont need the 1" spacer?

Here they are on my personal Syclone, no machining, The only cutting is to remove the factory bump stops, suspension stops. And these are double adjustables, hence the two knobs. The single adjustables, the knob will be on the lower control arm side. These also have the metal heim joint, and we are making custom spacers to offset them where I want. HTH

Do a search under my name, I had some pretty good info.

DS401's come with spherical bushings already installed. 9" + spacer (drop-cup type) will give you a better height....ask me how I know. ;)
