Hey guys, I knew this guy local had a couple sy's sitting in a field, So i decide to go talk to him... turns out he has 3 of them, one has been re painted red, weird doorhandles shaved in??? popped the hood looks stock with some wrap on the charge pipe and intake pipe, cone filter under hood #2419, 67xxx on the odo... other one doesn't have a motor, no cluster so I don't know miles on truck, straight nice truck but its been sitting outside for more than a decade... other one had a bra (looks like shit) painted cladding all black, look inside truck looks new besides cracks in dash, look at the odo 26,xxx I about shit myself. I think this trucks been sitting more than the other one's, the trucks are at someone else's house, I get the guys # and call him he says he's keeping the red one and the 26,xxx to sit and rot more....he supposedly has a full rebuilt motor for the other one, he's going to get back to me on how much he needs... the truck needs paint, Ive got to see it out of the two foot tall weeds to see everything on the truck...what would be a fair price???? So fu*ken sad to me that they are just sitting and rotting away... I guess he's got a ty also, btw he has a twin turbo callaway corvette sitting next to these trucks, along with a couple gnx's

There were a couple of gnx's next to them or just grand nationals? There's a big difference.

Re: I found 3 sy's rotting in a field

Its funny how us sy/ty owners split. There is the former/current GN/t-type owner or not. My bs alarm started wailing when he mentions the twin turbo callaway vette at the end like he almost forgot. I don't know about some peoples definition of field, but I don't think a lowered with ground effects corvette is making it into a field. Not that I don't believe that the OP is telling the truth, but this just seems so unlikely.

Really I'm lying about this, honestly I didn't pay attention to the gnx's he told me they were out there... the callaway vette also don't really care about, he tried selling that car to my dad years ago, there's two rows of cars a foot apart from each other. I'll see if I can go back out and take pics, this is behind a house in weeds that's what I call a field...

I'm not the smartest penny in the piggy bank but isn't Colorado the state of much snow about this time of year? Don't weeds begin to wither there about October, after a couple good frosts? If you would have left the 2' tall weed part out of your story, it MIGHT have been more believeable. If this person can afford GNX's and a TT Callaway, surely he can afford a carport, barn OR garage.

I think you had a bad dream.....time to crawl outta bed, brush your teeth and eat some breakfast. You are coming across as delirious :).

Re: I found 3 sy's rotting in a field

We don't have much snow in the san Luis valley, our mountains get all the snow, I must be wrong on the vin on the red one I'm out of town in new Mexico when I get back I'll take pics and write down all three vins... also I bet the weeds were 4 foot but they are dead and laying over. I guess a lot of people make Shit up on here, you guys are going to eat you're words... I can't believe im being called a liar and an idiot. **** if i post Shit like this again, but I'll definitely prove all you wrong...

Don't weeds begin to wither there about October, after a couple good frosts? .

Depending on the plant species, it's completely likely to have a standing field of tall perennial weeds through winter. With freeze and thaw, some begin to lean and eventually drop, but there are many weeds that stand through to the following spring (brown and dry to be replaced by new spring growth).

Re: I found 3 sy's rotting in a field

Its possible to get the vin number wrong. It's possible that there is a "junk yard" behind a house that has a bunch of rare, muscle type cars (god knows we have seen pics before of "WTF" storage locations for vehicles).

Just a bit off topic though (and since you put it out there, it's somewhat on topic). If you knew you were going over to meet / speak with the guy and look at the trucks and you had prior knowledge of what he had, why wouldn't you take a camera with you and gather as much information as you could while there. Something like that would be considered a "find". It doesn't sound like it's a "hey, saw a Syclone sitting down at the local SONIC and walked up and talked to the owner and...".

There are a ton of posts on here where it's just like that. Someone says "hey, I found a Typhoon for sale, stopped and talked to the owner" OR "Saw a Syclone at a car show" and no additional information at all.

This is the year 2011. Almost EVERY cellphone now has a camera on it. I don't understand how sometimes there are so many "sightings" yet no one thinks about posting up a picture. If I were out in the wilderness and a chupacabra or a yeti (or better yet, a unicorn) went walking past me, I would undoubtedly grab my cellphone and snap a picture.

Not directing this at you completely, just seems to be a lot of "I SAW" posts that go up with nothing behind them. I would encourage anyone who comes across a "find" or a truck to snap at minimum a picture of the truck and the VIN.

Re: I found 3 sy's rotting in a field

I didn't have my cell phone on me or I would have taken pics. I'm sure people like to make stories up but I'm not, and I'll back it up with pics Friday... the guy is supposed to get back to me on what he wants for the one without a motor, that's why I started this thread... instead of people giving their opinion on what the truck is worth I get called a ****ing liar...

Jesus.......give the guy a chance. If he doesn't "pic-up", then crucify him.

Re: I found 3 sy's rotting in a field

Well, in that case...
10+ years outside in the elements? No motor? No dash cluster? Sure the tires are screwed. Sure the paint looks like ass. Sure it's probably started to rust like crazy in areas that are both visible and non-visible.
Project? Probably.
$1500 maybe? And how much is your time worth to do what will probably be a ground up restoration of it?
Unless he throws in the motor. But I don't know how confident I would be in a person who has the alleged said vehicles and leaves them sitting outside.
If you have that much $ for those vehicles, you have enough $ to build a garage, a lean-to or get some car covers from Walmart.

Definitely post some pics when you get a chance. I might be interested in whatever you don't buy (syty related)

That's what I'm saying I can't believe he's got this Shit sitting outside, he's supposedly building a garage now... he said he won't let the red one go or the 26xxx one either, he's a ****ing moron in my opinion...he says the motor for the one is rebuilt, balanced, forged pistons, blueprinted but he's more than likely an idiot...but I will definitely get pics

Where is he located at? I'm not going to snipe this truck from you, just curious.
