Good point dig.I think mine is False so I just added xylene and gonna DM run it.I hate the crappy CA 91 octane here.I just bought a A2A so hoping that will help if it is real KR.Ill see!! A VERY dumb question about $59 probably, does the ecm have to be the 59 version?Mine is the recent refurb from the dealer and just curious if its that ecm only?If so ill have to find one soon. Thanks!!Also what would you recomend equipment wise?I was thinking the ostrich, I have a WB(lc1,xd16) and DM plus gonna get TP.Any recomendations?Ive done a search and its all back and forth.I just want ez to use. Thanks!!
I've said it before, but the number of knock problems that I've found that came from noise sources I can count on one hand. (and have fingers left over)
Most 100% stock trucks out there are knocking. This includes people who think their truck is running good.
$59 will run on any stock ECM. We actually have it running on 3 different GM ECMs, that I'm aware of.
You'll have a tough time getting a firm recommendation on tuning equipment... A lot of it is personal preference. I've got 2 different emulators, 4 different EPROM burners. The ostrich is probably the easiest of the bunch, that I've used. I haven't played with a Prominator, but it should be pretty equivalent to the ostrich.
I will say that they're *all* fairly touchy devices, as they won't handle a lot of rough handling or ESD. If there is an advantage to the aftermarket ECUs (DFI/FAST/Bigstuff), it's that they're a lot more bulletproof in this regard. That comes at a fairly steep cost penalty, though.
