Yeah, on the detroit spring website they state that 'composite springs hardly ever fail', if designed correctly.
As far as performance, flex-a-form kick ass, they handle amazingly, the only problem is wheel hop due to a much lower unsprung weight with a much light spring. The ride got better, and the car as a whole got much faster.
As far as a link setup, there's a world of options, but it depends how deep your wallet is. Check out youtube video for a Watts link.
IMO I'd just go talk to a racecar fab shop near you and tell them what you want, and see what they reccommend.
There's always an IRS swap, that's pretty insane, but a full independent suspension Sy or Ty would be boner inspiring.
