Atkonkler,

Are your C5 wheels (all 4) rears? I have a set of rears all the way around on my Typhoon and the front wheels are rubbing a little on the inside. I'm going to buy a 1/4" spacer to see if it solves the problem... do you have any insight on this? The rears will get about a 1" space so that they look propper.

Does anybody else have some info that would help me on this? I looked this thread over and did not find an exact answer so if anybody could point me to a link it would begreatly apprecieated!

:)

Re: Let's see your non stock wheels on a Sy/Ty

Slightly off topic and maybe a dumb question, but its been bugging me for a bit now... why do the rear tires have a different offset? is rear axle shorter in width than a normal s10 axle? On my blazer all the wheels are the same and they are in line. Is the offset difference because of the cladding and the fact the rear of our trucks are slightly wider than the front? But they want all 4 wheels flushed with the cladding? That's my guess based on my blazer. The wheels stick out slightly past the fenders in the front but on the back the fender over hangs the wheel.

Just been curious about it for a while now.

99 C5 "wagon wheel" is (assuming they are FACTORY wheels):

REAR: 18 x 9.5" 61mm offset. That means the backspace is 7.65" and the front space is 2.85"

9.5" wide and a +61 offset is going to rub, besides adding the 1/4" spacer you mentioned you could also massage the control arms with a grinder a little bit to clearance them.

Be careful to ensure you have enough thread engagement when you add the spacer, I believe they say you want at least as much as the thread pitch, so 12mm or 1/2", you may want to look at getting longer studs.

On the rear 1" adapter should be good to go. If there's an 1 1/8" adapter seems that would be ideal.

Most likely to match the cladding.

is rear axle shorter in width than a normal s10 axle?

Rear axle is the same as a standard 4x4.

Is the offset difference because of the cladding and the fact the rear of our trucks are slightly wider than the front?

Actually since the front have the higher offset wheel, I'd venture to guess the front is wider than the rear.

You just contradicted yourself by saying:

4x4 S-10's have a wider front track width than the rear. Its barely noticeable with stock wheels but push the wheels out any and you notice the difference. The SyTy's have a different offset in the rear to make the wheels even with the body all the way around. 2wd S-10's don't have this and the wheels are inline.

A few pictures of my TY with black zr1's. 17x9.5 in front and 17x11 in rear. I'm hoping for a change next year but for now with two brand new tires in the front they will have to do.

Not sure if you still have these rims (old post) but I'd swap my saw blades for your ZR1's.
