Re: LS1-Sonoma GT build (updated with pics)

Well, thought I'd give an update. Don't have any pictures, but it really doesn't look alot different from last week.

We finished basically all the wiring this weekend...all that is left is the AC request, and speed sensor wires. Got my new fuel cell cap and installed it as well. It is pretty neat...I bought an RCI "fast fill neck" to replace the latch that came on it. What we did is had the neck cut off the base of the cap...than the original gas tank neck and cap welded onto the base of the cap. So this way it will be emissions legal and they can pressure test the fuel cell.

I got my new air intake tubing today as well as my new coolant overflow tank and I have an air filter on the way. So well throw all that stuff on the truck this weekend and hopefully get the guy over to my dad's house to tune the computer. Assuming he comes and tunes the computer the truck will be running this weekend. In which case we will take it to the exhaust shop next week sometime.

EDIT: Incase anyone was wondering about the flex-a-lite fans being powerfull enough, we hot wired them this weekend and they suck Alot of wind. They are rated to flow more CFM than the ramcharger fans as well...just thought I'd let ya know while it was on my mind.

Nice....cant wait to see your dads lt1 school your ls1 ;) ---

Haha.....very funny. The nova will be quicker.....for awhile  But seriously, I would hate to line up next to that thing( Till I get my rear suspension set-up that is)......it has a narrowed 9 inch ford with 15 inch wide tires and 4.30 rear gears. He also has a cam, throttle body, full roller rockers, and headers. It should be a pretty mean car when it is done.

Got some pics for ya guys

Here's a couple pics how the gas tank cap was modified to accept the factory gas cap.

And a few of the truck/engine compartment...I'll get some closer up if anyone wants...the camera just ran out juice yesterday.

As you can see the truck is basically done. My dad sent the computer out today to a tuning guy to be tuned. Other than that we just need to make a bracket to keep the air induction sytem in place and to mount the coolant overflow tank. After that it should, in theory, start up and run. Then all that is left is to drive to the exhaust place to get exhaust built for it( then give it a thorough wash and wax!)I'll make sure and keep you guys updated.

Did you do any Extra to the engine or is it a stock LS1 with low miles?

No, I ran out of money :rotf:
Plus I don't wanna put too much power into it before I get a new rear end and rear suspension. What your looking at is a stock internal 98 LS1 with 16k miles. Basically the only mods it has as of now are longtube headers and the air intake we built for it. In 1-2 weeks it will have true dual exhaust....so I guess you can say it has "The Bolt-ons" other than the LS6 intake manifold.

Re: LS1-Sonoma GT build (updated with pics)

Well, thought I'd update this thread......

The truck is basically done. All that is left is little things like : fill up with fluids, build a bracket to hold air intake up, and put a couple interior panels back on.

I'm really getting impatient with people while doing this project.....The guy who had told me that he would tune my truck didn't reply to my emails for like a week and a half. When he finally did he told me he couldn't do it  . So we sent the computer out to a guy on the east coast to tune it about 1.5 weeks ago. Theres no reason why it shouldn't be here this week.
So I'm going to try and get a video up of the truck after it is running.

Good to here. Be sure you get a sound clip or video of it once it started so we can hear it run.

Haha...seriously.....that is a whole different project I already have planned out...basically in probably about 5 months the truck will be getting a 4 link coil over set-up, narrowed 9-inch ford and 18X12 rear wheels with either nitto 335/30R18's or BFG 345 30R18's( either will be in drag radials) Although considering the truck will be daily driven for awhile I'll probably go with the Nitto's. I'll update you guys on that when the time comes....

As for a video or clip I'll see what I can do...I should be able to get something.

Have you look at the new 12 bolts rear ends by Moser. Check out these tires if you want to look for other types.
