at the rate he's doing things, if it all rust out and deteriorates...big deal. build another set while he's waiting for popcorn to finish poping :)

I personally do not like to make things twice, but that's just me.

From the pics it doesn't look like you will be able to get the steering shaft thru the headers on the driver's side. Or are you modifying the shaft?

i have to put the shaft in at the same time as the header. Its like that game with the two bent nails that can only go together one way.

the headers shouldn't rust because of the paint on them and the milscale on the metal. If they ever do start rusting i will get them coated or just throw in a bag of

got the battery box from summit today. put it in and ran the cables

last night i made the piping from the intercooler to the throttle body

i also wrapped the passenger header today and put that on. I modded the stock oil dip stick to work also

this morning i went to the track with my friend in his s10. best run was 12.3 @ 127mph with a horrible 2.3 60ft. next time we go the syclone should be there too

First off.. great job on your fabricating... if this is your first build then your doing way above most guys that do this for a living. I've had to follow up on some real hack work before...
Keep up the great work!

I am just concerened that all your nice work on the headers ,downpipe ,etc, will all rust out & deteriorate from the wrap.
He's right on that part... the wrap does such a great job of holding in heat it'll cook the metal and let it start to crack and break. It'll take a little while but it will destroy that mild steel.

this morning i went to the track with my friend in his s10. best run was 12.3 @ 127mph with a horrible 2.3 60ft. next time we go the syclone should be there too
With his 60' time.. was that spinning or just not the right converter? He's got good MPH and honelstly that's all I look at since it'll be the same regardless of spinning/wrong converter ect. Even if he hoooked it'd still run 127mph +- 1mph.
So he's making good power once it get's to the ground or start's making boost.. 127 with a good launch should put him in the mid 10's easy. So it's a matter of mis-matched parts or not enough rear end work.
That's the problem with a dyno.. it'll tell you your making XXX power but the track is the heart breaker :)

That is why I asked him twice if it is stainless steel material.

stainless still rusts. It just takes longer. the exhaust on the sti i had was all stainless and was starting to rust when i took it off.

My friends truck is a 6 speed. no launching, just taking off. first time to the track with the slicks, didnt want to break anything.

If it rusted on your all stainless STI,just think what mild steel will do.

There are different grades of stainless.

6.0/t56 tc76@9.4psi 598whp 612wtq just my friends dd

Must be quite the tire eater at that. When I drove my truck about 350hp it ate tires big time.
As far as your truck nice job getting this done so fast. Is the turbo already installed or did you give it a test start N/A to make sure everything was hooked up right? Nice fab work BTW

Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

here is the list of stuff left to do
-finish wrapping harness (tomorrow)
-wire fan relay (tomorrow)
-hookup wideband (tomorrow)
-weld in o2 bungs (tuesday)
-put in front prop shaft (tuesday)
-mount tranny coolers (tuesday)
-fuel pump relay (tomorrow)
-radiator hoses (this week sometime)
-mount turbo if it ever comes in (who knows)
-turbo to intercooler piping (after who knows)
-hookup gauges (this week sometime)

I should have everything done by the end of this week except for the turbo. im sure there is other things but i cant think about them right now
