My truck weighs 3380 lbs with ac and abs still. A couple of things left out unless I overlooked them from all your posts.

One thing that is very important to properly distribute the weight of the vechicle as much as possible, even if there is a huge front weight bias.

Anyway.....

Mini starter.
Fiberglass rear springs.
Removed driving/fog lamps. Cracked lenses anyway and since I like to

Hay MIke,

If you want to consider trading some parts, I have a LW core Support from PEP and brand new set of Flex-a-Forms.

I need a whole bunch to finish the Sonoma GT.

- aluminum rear drums - these can be found in junkyards if you are that type. They are sold on Ebay too sometimes, just not as cheap.

Syclone and Typhoon rear drums are a little different.

Id hafta disagree here.. I got a set off a member of the buick board and they fit fine as well as stopping/holding boost as good as drum brakes can for two years now.

FWIW. Some G bodies came with them as well as some early S trucks although I have yet to see a set on a S truck from the factory when scrounging in the bone yards. There is a post in the junk yard section of turbobuick.com that lists all the cars aluminum drums can be found on.

The aluminum drums fit on the Syclone . They dont fit on the Typhoon.

I have aluminum drums on my Syclone . The ones I took off my GN did not fit on my Typhoon. I think the dust shields interfered. It was a couple years ago I tried.

I stole the aluminum drums I have on my truck off my '84 S-10 Blazer. Fit perfect and were definitely lighter.

BTW, was out working on the truck today and saw a few more brackets that zip-ties could replace. Plus, I started taking out the A-frame clips that used to help hold stuff (coolant bottle, airbox, etc....). :D

these trucks are from hell, they have a normal man reduced to pulling clips off to save weight :D

Has anybody looked into running Lexan side windows yet? It seems like this would be a pretty good weight savings, especially by replacing the huge side windows on a Typhoon.

I have thought about this but you would have to get the molded shape which could be a bitch.

Some thing interesting is that me and tony weighted our trucks one day at the same scale.

The trucks both had the same front weight but my Ty had 500lbs more over the rear wheels than his Sy. No wonder it bounces off the bump stops on a hard launch. But I have a solution for that

Someone already sells the back windows. I will try to track it down and post it here.

other options
- Aluminum Radiator
- Remove Wiper Assembly
- Heating & Cooling Ductwork underdash
- Power Windows & Locks
- Sound Deading on firewall (very heavy)
- Sound Deading on back Cab wall (yep just as heavy)
- Sound Deading under Carpet
- Wiring Harness (go painless or ezwiring.com-not for the faint at heart)
- Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass Hood
- Fiberglass Inner Fenders
- Fiberglass Front Bumber Cover & Support (6lbs)
- Fiberglass Rear Bumber Cover & Support (4.5lbs)
- Bed Cover - Go Carbon Fiber (Adam & Ian can help on this one)
- Metal Tailgate Straps - switch to Cable (plus no more noise)

Oh yeah....forgot to mention that I swapped out the sunvisors with one w/o vanity mirrors & lights. Probably the weight savings equivalent to me wearing a belt when driving or not. :D

Couple more things

- Cross Drilled Rotrs & Carbon Metalic Pads
- LW Aluminum 16" Wheels (someone on this list has them)
- Billet Spindles (someone on this list has them)
- Carbon Fiber Half Shafts (Brain Hartman sells them)
- Radio & Speakers (not an option in my book)

My wheels are 16" aluminum and are substantially lighter than stock......though not lightweight in the sense of magnesium or anything.

I didn't know that Hartman sold CF CV axles. Anybody know if they are thicker/thinner/etc....? I may have to call him about these if they provide more clearance in coil-over apps.

The Welds/Hoosiers I have took 80# off the stock wheel weight, FWIW.

~ 3000 with driver is outstanding, IMO. Boggles the mind at what could
be done with say, 8-900 HP....

A CF axle would be an interesting piece... I have a CF brake rotor from
a friend in racing circles that weighs almost nothing compared to what
the equivalent cast piece would weigh... wish I had 3 more of 'em.

brembo has some really trick lightweight rotors out now. I believe they are CF as well.

Not really carbon fiber. More like carbon/carbon.

I have a carbon/carbon clutch for one GT-R.

Porsche sells optional ceramic brakes. Brembo has a carbon setup . They are like $16,000 for a set.

Thats a carbon clutch disk.
