Here is my fix:
Sorry for the lack of detailed information. I started the project and half way through it dawned on me to take pics to post here online.
My original thread regarding what to do about my tube. Things started getting worse and something had to be done
Intake X-Over Tube broken - What are my options?
This was my tube situation before I got to work. Notice how much is missing - just over 1 inch to 1.5 inches gone plus a split at the seam. I cleaned, filed and sanded to smooth things out and remove any rough edges.
Next I went and got some 2 - 3/4 inch exhaust sleeve pipe from Autozone (that or 2 - 1/2 inch I already forgot, sorry!) and used some left over aluminum mesh wire from Home Depot from my Corvette radiator debris blocker mod. I cut about a 6 X 6 inch square, put the pipe in the middle and traced a black line. I snipped up from the edge of the 6 X 6 sheet to the drawn line from 8 directions like this:
I then took the tabs I made, then folded them around the pipe while trimming the access to help it fold over easier. I used a large hose clamp to clamp down the mesh in order to form it around the pipe. I used some high temp tape to keep any sharp pieces from poking out. After a few clamp/unclamping cycles and trimming the wire to form around the pipe I came up with this:
I then slid the X-over tube over the screen for a tight fit, then used a clamp to tighten it on the fitting:
I put a little lube in on the stock turbo elbow to ease with fitment and put it in. Tightened the hose clamps and here it is:
Fitment seems good, and right now it is almost physically impossible for any piece of the tube larger that about 3X3 mm to pass though. Should hold me over for the foreseeable future.
