Nationals 04 "If you don't have time to read, then don'

International Syclone Typhoon Association!

Steve here from TASTE, the Texas guys. A few moments of your time is all I ask, I wish to plant some seeds for the future.

Everyone on this board owes a big thanks to Patrick Johnson, Brian and Jill Dourty, Jason and Heather Granger, and Gabe and Julie Estrada. They are not the only ones, but this year there would not have been a "Nationals" without them, and I am not sure if several people here know what that means.

First, there have been several good teams over the years, it has not been perfect and never will be, but for this "Association" of owners we have had the best of the best in many respects and our organizers and committees have reflected this.

There have been several nationals and I have been to every one except for 2002 due to personal reasons.
This year the 04 nationals were great as always, even better in some respects, I personally want to say thanks for all the effort, discussions, and for all the things that I have no knowledge about, but know had to have had happen to make it all come together.

I have seen great things, and a community that reflects an American Dream as it should be, but we don't own it, it is for all of our friends world wide, so what have I seen?

1. Owners of expensive, hard to maintain trucks that can leave them open in the parking lot without worry that someone will cause a problem for them. at the hotel, or the race track. That is a nutshell is mutual respect and admiration.
2. Owners that are part of the medical, emergency, law enforcement, military, health related, government and private sector businesses of all kinds, with ONE COMMON LOVE, these tempermental trucks and what they can do, or what they can't do from time to time
3. Men and Women owners that are 19 to 65 years old maybe more.
4. Women and Men that share there experiences and are always quick to "help out" when they can. Is it a tip on insurance, a tip on a repair or "where to get it", or is it just "I need to borrow a wrench, piece of vacuum line, or do they just jump under your truck and bust a knuckle? Gee your time at the track is not right, lets see if something is up. Think about that....
5. How about (4) count them, (4) pregnant women that we know of? at the nationals? How about that, GOD BLESS them and what is to come. But to another degree it says something else too doesn't it...
6. Anything from late night "jump the fiberglass rock with a moped competition" to "SoCal" decals in the elevators, to the infamous "Kak", it just goes on and on...

Ok guys, here it is, there will be an annoucement soon as to when and where the 05 Nationals will be held.
It is time to start participating, time to come and see the what it is all about, time to bring your truck, plan a vacation, bring the family members and be with another family of friends from all walks of life that share a common interest, goal, passion, and view.

Some call it an "Alarm Clock", I call it an "Opportunity Clock", it is easy to get sidetracked and caught up in a lot of things these days, but a little planning, drive and setting a goal to "Be There" will give you something to look forward to and there is plenty for everyone to do...

Do you really want to thank the committee(s) for what they have done in the past and for what is to come in 05?
Do you want to be part of something that crosses age, sex, job and exists despite the differences?

As the great ex-president Reagan once said, "I believe in the inherent goodness of people and what they can accomplish"

Say thankyou this coming year by just being there, show up, be part of it for a change, don't sit on the sidelines like a football game, be a participant.

Sincerely,
Steve

From what I gather and in my own "opinion" the nats are getting easier every year at the Doubletree and in KC. People are getting their directions down, the track is meeting more of our needs and the Hotel now knows what to expect. You can't beat the large parking lot we get. Now if the Hotel can just schedual a Playboy event during the Nats, we'll be set! :D

As my FIRST NATS experience i must admit that it was great! I was a little gun shy being a newbie there and not knowing anyone but I soon began talking with some of the friendliest "club members" ever. I was a member of a corvette club for awhile and there wasn't near the help and assistance from others. I am honored to become a part of this group and look forward to welcoming others.

Also, I plan to spread the word to other SoGT owners so they can be more recognized. There are... if I am correct... about 10 Sy/Ty's to every SoGT yet we have no place to go and share our stories. I felt right at home except for the fact that I was the only SoGT owner there.

Thanks to ALL the staff for puting on a great NATS
and thanks to all those that attended, you're all a great bunch of guys... and gals.
I plan to attend all NATS from this day forward.

I agree. The syty nats crew this year did a GREAT job.

As always it was a blast. I guess after 6 events is probably the reason i keep coming back.

I have made a deal with Justin Vest for next year also. Whoever does NOT bring their truck gets Pummeled.

Should both of us fail, we will go into the elevator of death match.

I made a deal with his dad also, if he should show signs of winning, his dad is going to hold him down.

Anybody that didn't make it, start planning for next year. I can promise you only understand 50% of what goes on in the board if you have not gone to the nationals.

From the jokes to the insults, you can't understand or enjoy them without going.

Plus when can you act 15 years old in your life, and nobody faults you for it?

Sell Out
Thanks to Dubb for calling me a "Sell-Out Punk Ass Bitch" and making me go to the Nats.

I wasn't going to go due to some of the BS that happens on the board. I'm too old to get caught up in the pissing matches that go on here - and then I started thinking of past Nationals and meeting all the people I have. People that I only see once a year at the Nats. Meeting someone new every year. Sharing stories, beer, better stories, more beer.....

Next year - Chitown will have more than one truck - even if it means me buying another ;)

For the new people from Chicago - keep an eye on the Midwest Gatherings section. We need to get a few wrench sessions going.

Thanks for all the kind words. Very well said. We had a great time there even though it was busy keeping things going.
Next year will be built upon the effort put forth for this year. So it will be even better.

The elevator might have been worse had we stayed longer as we were out of anything to drink. Not to mention we had 3 hours until time to get up and go to Applebees for the awards.

Steve,
Hopefully next year you, Al and the rest of the TX crew can be at the awards breakfast.
