very nice install !!! how long did it take you to do this, I am a novice that is why I am asking.

I have done it (along with alot of other stuff) over the course of a few months. If I had to estimate for someone who has never worked on a syty (which was me until now) probably an entire Saturday afternoon. If I had to do it again, probably only 3-4 hours, now that I am more comfortable with it. You will need some patience when it comes to removing the old hard lines and removing/re-installing the lower heat exchanger. Every thing there is kinda tight and you should do your best not to be rushed.

Just to add a comment I have my lines as shown is the latest pic. Very easy to move IC out of the way for dist access or anything else. In fact last winter when I had the motor out I never drained the IC at all. I don't seem to have any heat issues but a thermal wrap on the hoses would prolly help.

I went a little oveboard on my IC lines. I have the feed line coming through the drivers side fender and is fed from an aux cooler mounted in front of the radiator. Its heater hose that has been wrapped in thermal tape. The return line is routed through the pass fender and feeds into the lower i/c. There is a small section of thermal-wrapped hose from the lower IC to the aux one. I have protective sheathing on any place that looks like it could rub and its secured via zip ties at various points to keep it from moving around too much.
At the upper IC i have 2 different "s" hoses that direct the inlet and outlet in either direction. it makes it easy to seperate them from the upper IC without disturbing the hoses if I need to remove it for any reason.

I found routing the hoses directly down the drivers side like you have pictured always put them in the way of something and i had to think there was some heat soak from either then engine or the return line.

I am trying to find pics to post but my compter crashed and the truck is currently in storage.

Its my opinion the ic routibng is one of the thinigs you can get most creative with.

After many hard runs and long driving in 90 degree heat my IC has been cool to the touch.

dont be afraid to experiment a little with it.

if you ever feel real ambitious, you can plumb the heater core into the system. :tup: gets a little hot inside, but it works great. ;)

so i just looked under my hood and the the IC pump relay was already hotwired from the previous owner. I turned the ignition to accessory and you could hear that loud ass pump working. I think I am going to try and do the pump and tubing this weekend or next. Do you guys know what IC tubing this is?

Looks like the viton tubing you can buy at home depot... I'd sure use the reinforced version though.

Id be interested to see how the clear tubing looks after some time passes. Ive seen people use clear line for overflow lines and usually they start to yellow and turn brown over time.

Stopped in at Home Depot earlier tonight and checked out that 1" clear PVC tubing. Wasn't a whole lot of info on the packaging, but my concern was that it would not be able to withstand the heat in the engine compartment. The one thing I do remember the label saying was that it could withstand 35 PSI at 70 degrees. Anyone have any input on this? Or, would I just be better off going with regular heater hose?

Hmmm, I just did a search and found this from the manufacturer...

Hardness, Shore A ±5 80
Tensile Strength, psi 2500
Elongation at Break, % 320
Brittle Temperature -50°F
Max. Operating Temperature 175°F

The 175 may be marginal.. I'm not sure how hot that coolant gets.

Wow...OK, yeah....may have to re-think that one there. That 175 could be pushing things a bit.

If you are seeing 175* IC temps, you have something wrong with your system. Even on the hotest days sitting in traffic, I used to see 130-140 max sitting still heat soaking on my outlet side with my temp gauge.

No, I'm not thinking about IAT temps that hot, I'm thinking about the coolant temp when it returns to the lower CAC... that's where it would be hottest.
