Hope you got it running. APE is the only place I buy Walbro's from as well.
If stuck out here in Ca like I am, gas most times will or can be that monster
E 85 mess. J30R10 won't hol up to it. Only stuff that will is PTFE based
Teflon hose for inside the tank. APE also sells this. It's very inexpensive
for pc of mind.

Yup, got it running but idles at 2100 rpm and won't idle down.. The only exhaust on it is the downpipe so maybe there is not enough back pressure or something or I may be totally off base. This is my first sy and I am learning by the day. Got all new silicone vacuum lines, new fuel pump set at 42 psi with vac line disconnected and plugged, new plugs, hoses, etc. Have NOS cladding coming from Tom so will hopefully get it back to looking good shortly. Got to get it to a muffler shop as grandson cut the downpipe in order to get it off and now I need to get it welded back in place. KIDS!!!!! Should be exciting driving it to the shop with no mufflers, no plates, inspection, etc... My next post may be from a jail cell....

Mine starting idling high and the idle air controller was loose. You could also have a vacuum leak or hose routed wrong.

I would suspect vacuum leak first. Mine just had a random high idle a few days ago and found the vacuum hose from the pcv to throttle body broken.

Re: Need help with sy that won't start

Got it back from the muffler shop and one more thing completed. Sure sounds better. I have the stock down pipe and then 3" exhaust the rest of the way out with cat and Magnaflow muffler. Sounds pretty good. I still have the issue with the really fast idle of 2100 rpm and the tach is bouncing around. I have installed all new vac lines and have used over a can of carb cleaner looking for any signs of a vac leak with no luck. I need some help with this idle problem so if anyone has any ideas I welcome the help.

Good progress!

Re: idle, have you hooked up DataMaster yet? Specifically, what is your IAC count at idle. It should be ~30. If it is 0, you may want to think of your TB adjustment screw if you have ruled out a vac leak. You'll need to close the plates. One thing to consider.

Nope.. All this stuff is new to me. I will research DataMaster and see what I need and how many $$ are involved. Thanks for the heads up..

Re: Need help with sy that won't start

I've been doing bunches of cleaning and waxing while waiting to get some additional parts. Cladding from Tom will be here today. Replaced IC pump, etc. It runs but it runs like crap...

Downloaded and installed Datamaster and purchased https://www.aldlcable.com/products/aldlobd1u.asp but I cannot get it to work. I have been trying for 2 days with no luck. I have searched the forums and have seen where others have experienced this but no answers. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled, tried 2 different pooters, made sure I loaded the drivers that come with the cable, checked the control panel, etc and no luck. Datamaster loads just fine but then thats it. It has never asked for the com port or anything else. I get the main DM screen and nothing else. I pretty efficient with computers but I cannot get this working. Any thoughts?

IAC count is 0 so I guess I need to start with the TB adj screw.

when you get a chance, run it with datamaster and post your file for some to have a look.

Re: Need help with sy that won't start

TB adjustment screw should only be attempted if you know that you do not have a vac leak... Do you have a really high idle?

It's at 0 because it may be letting too much air in to the engine and/or getting it from somewhere else. Make a small adjustment if you want to check... 1 full turn should closed (anticlockwise) should increase the IAC count by about 4 or 5. Do this with the computer on and the engine running. If it doesn't, you have a vac leak to look for somewhere. HTH.

Re: Need help with sy that won't start

OK... IAC connector wasn't even plugged in and I couldn't find it. Removed the IC tank and found it tucked in behind other wires, vac lines, etc.. Spent some time redoing wiring and lines and plugged in the IAC connector. Put everything back together and fired it up and now idles around 750 rpm but not as smooth as it should be. The ignition coil is making a loud electrical arc sound so I'm going to change it out this evening. Still missing so maybe that will help.

Is there a guideline or pic of the datamaster screen that kinda, sorta, resembles what a stock truck should look like or explains the variables a little?

IC pump is not working so gotta verify it's the pump and if so get one ordered.

Thanks for the help.. It's much appreciated.

Re: Need help with sy that won't start

Have made some good progress on the truck over the past few days and it's actually running pretty good. I'm going to try to get it inspected in the next couple days so I can get plates and insurance and take it for a drive..Cladding is replaced and truck is looking good.

Now a couple more ?'s.. A Moates GP3 Switcher Adapter with ZIF & chip came with the truck but not currently installed. I assume the chip was programmed at some time but I have no way of getting a hold of grandson to fine out anything as he is out to sea on deployment. I have no idea how the chip is programed so is there anyone here or someplace I can send it to to get it programed? The chip is a AM29F040B. I also got a AEM Tru Boost Gauge Type Controller that's not installed either. I also have the 3bar MAP so my question is, is it worth installing this on a stock truck or should I sell this stuff along with the turbo, injectors, converter, exhaust, etc?
